Steering rack issues

Recommended Posts

hi there,

about 3 months ago me and my dad pulled apart the steering rack pump to fix the noise it was making, we replaced the aluminium shim that the shaft goes through and its sweet now, no noise and a lot lighter which is all good.

Im sure there are some bits of the old shim all through the rack which is causing it to leak, and i can smell burnt oil after driving it now, pretty sure its somehow getting onto the manifold or exhaust?? would this be correct??

Any help would be sweet, i want to get a seal kit but im worried its going to be ruined, think i need to replace the whole lot.

ideally i want manual steering but it seems to be rare.. thanks
