e36 m3 exhaust

i heard that e36 m3 exhausts swap for normal m50 (2.5L) exhausts?

is this true? and how much better performance would it give?

To start with - this is purely what I've heard and not from experience..

From what I've heard an exhaust on its own doesnt put out too much horsepower gain without being in tandum with an entire setup from headers right through to exhaust, only then I believe you'd be able to put out a noticeable difference in horsepower.

ull notice a difference with a custom exhaust, def with headers.
