DCEIVN 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) Hey Guys, My car has been having its extractors operation over the last week. I went to go have a look at them today and they look really good. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera to take photos but they told me they had taken photos throughout so I will post those hopefully tomorrow (with some of my own) Its also getting Dynoed (and A/F Ratio optimised) tomorrow. I thought i would post you guys my Dyno from November last year which was done solely to measure the difference in output the extractors would give me. There have been no engine modifications since. Just Brakes Before Extractors: Green line measures original, Red line is after A/F ratio was played with. Dyno Results from after extractors will be posted tomorrow evening (if all goes well). Those of you at Manfield on Sunday be sure to come have a look/drool EDIT: Torque measured in NM (LHS graph) - remember to divide by diff ratio? 3.07 Edited May 4, 2006 by DCEIVN
bmwsparkle 3 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) how the hell are you getting 20 more horse than me?? that confuses me actually, you have a low comp engine right? You sure you're not high comp? That hp figure is rwhp? Surely that reversed intake can't be doing all that. The extractors you're getting made, are they equal length? Will be keen for a copy if they are. How did you fiddle round with a/f ratio too dude? Edited May 4, 2006 by bmwsparkle
bmwsparkle 3 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 (edited) to compare, hp vs hp sae? Diff ratio put as 3.07 vs 3.1 Edited May 4, 2006 by bmwsparkle
DCEIVN 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 Yup RWHP dynoed at the Chequered Flag in Petone I'm pretty sure I'm the low compression engine. Previous mechanic said so and therefor reckoned I should nos it (yea..... sure) I think previous owner chipped it too. Also the whole exhaust under the car is modified. CAI. And thats about it. Best way to have it played around with is on the dyno otherwise you can't really tell what the outcomes are (coz you can measure any differences). plus Mike from the Surgery stuck a suprise decal saying "World's Fastest Indian" on the back... thats good for about 10HP

DCEIVN 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 I know its highly unlikely that it would happen but I wouldn't mind a double century
Guest Andrew Report post Posted May 4, 2006 meh you can't compare power like that. In the United States the term "bhp" fell into disuse after the American Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) recommended manufacturers use hp (SAE) to indicate the net power of the engine, given that particular car's complete engine installation. It measures engine power at the flywheel, not counting drivetrain losses.

MateAs we have discussed before .....the HP in your car is pretty strange considering the work with the head etc. My understanding is the only modification to your car is a tidyup of the head, a little more compression, and a freer exhaust.....surely the car should actually run ok with this minor work, and not have all the issues you have at the moment. Have you run the computer through BMW diag's to see if the car doesnt have a fundamental fueling/timing/ignition problem that is the root of your low HP and all other ailments. You might not need an aftermarket computer.....you might just to need to fix something that is crook, and all of your issues might go away.
Guest Andrew Report post Posted May 5, 2006 Sparkle - why don't you play around with your fuel pressure to try get a decent AFR curve.
bmwsparkle 3 Report post Posted May 8, 2006 makes a little more sense now! just found out that Udits is a high comp as well.
