danutt 4 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 was told camshaft is worn so im going to replace it with a racing one pref so wat to get?? car is a daily driver but at the same time not really bothered so id like a lil gain at the same time:) so any sites i could visit to aquire one or does someone here have a contact to get them fitted etc all info bout gains and wat you noticed in your experience and also opinions regarding cam shafts thanx :mosh: Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

mops 4 Report post Posted June 11, 2006 my recomendation: it will be cheaper to buy the same engine off trademe than rebuild yours.... camshaft is likely to be ~US$200+ shipping from US, and set of rockeds... i dunno, you would have to check. since you will be doing that you will need aswell all head seals, most likely inclusing new headgasket and new headbolts. (read another ~NZ$300-$400). now thats if you do the job yourslef. expect several hundred NZ$ from a reputable workshop for labour... for $500 you should be able to fuins a decent 318 engine on trademe.... possibly even 318 IS engine.... danutt 4 Report post Posted June 12, 2006 got incontact with franklin cams having one made for $420 and gonna get labour and rockers replaced by my friend at bmw so its all go cant wait rather not take the motor out coz i cant put one in and having that done will cost alot and also just fitted gearbox bout a month ago and hell no im not doing that again will make a post once work is done Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
