E36 insturment cluster

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Was driving home lastnight, seemed be going a bit quicker than all other traffic even though the needle was on 110... Turns out the needle has stuck.

I've got the cluster out but can't figure out how to get to the actual needle.

How do I do it?

there are two levers on each end of the back of the cluster.

Use a bit of force and pull them out.

They rotate some gears and lift the back off of the front of the cluster.

From memory it took a bit of force but nothing felt like it was ready to break.

That gets you closer to the needle.

I just can't remember whether it comes out with the back piece or whether you need to remove the clear front

Just finished it and now I read your post... I got the info off bimmer DIY.

Successfully broke both black levers before realisinging there were the teeny tiny tourque screws. Thankfully had some that fit so I fixed the gauges :bounce:
