Mavrick 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 How easy is it to buy wheels over seas then import them into the country. Mainly importing from the UK, by buying on ebay? Cheers Mavrick
E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 Easy enough. You just get raped on the shipping cost (unless they go on the slow boat), then you bend over a bit further if you get charged duty (17% IIRC) and again for GST. Best talk to a customs broker to see if duty is applicable as it may not be on say; 1 set for personal use, as opposed to 10 sets for resale.
kiwi535 538 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 as mentioned above if get them sent by sea the freight is really cheap. At the time i was looking it was $130 US per cubic metre(and minimum charge.A set of four wheels would prolly be less than a M3 Then there are all the charges that Glenn alludes to. Mavrick 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 Yeah thats what I thought would be the case. It all looks so simple but then theres all the hidden costs. Theres a set of genuine 17inch alpinas on ebay that end up costing bout $1800 with the currency rate as it is and itd be so badass if I could have them on my car. And i do know that i'd have to do a 5 lug conversion before they would fit.
