Cheapest way for performance? E36 325i manual

hey guys i have a 325i E36 and was wondering which ways would be the cheapest most effective way of getting performance? changing air intake? chips etc? cheers

oil could be a start :D

theres always your run of the mill K&N air filter, headers, exhaust etc. Depends how much you want to spend really, but realistically I doubt anything over 10horsepower is achieveable with under $500, chips I dunno.. they are questionable but often seem to disappoint from experiences in NZ at least that I've heard of.

for a start i was thinking of running a custom air intake running to where the light on the bumper is, also 2 1/2 exhaust with new headers. M3 cams? will they fit on a non vanos?
