Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 Hey i was putting new springs in my car last night and was putting th tire back on and noticed th other wheel moved too.I didnt think it could be true but yup its got a lsd.I took it for a hack in a carpark on th shore and noticed from experince with welded diffs, that it was really loose...Not like th ratio or anything just like real sloppy. Anyway i just wanted to take it for a service and a tightening or sumthing like that and was wondering where some people take thiers cos i want it done right 1st time Thanks
petone 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 search button does wonders: http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....465&hl=diff You certain about the LSD? If the car was in gear the wheels shouldn't move. There is a tag on the back of the diff, an LSD will have an 'S' before the ratio.
low320i 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 am i correct in saying if its a lsd diff you should be able to jack the back off the ground a spin one wheel and the other side will spin the oppisite way?? while an open diff the oppisite side ethier wont spin or will spin the same way? kerrynzl 3 Report post Posted August 13, 2006 Lee Mariner at Diffs-R-Us has a great reputation, I assume that if you were putting new springs in your car that you are capable of removing the diff yourself [That'll save you $$$]

kerrynzl 3 Report post Posted August 14, 2006 The best [almost] foolproof way to check to see if it's a functional slipper is to jack both rear wheels off the ground.BUT LEAVE THE CAR IN GEAR OR PARK that way if it's a slipper you can't turn the wheels without resistance
