Instrument display trouble

Recommended Posts

I've got a 1989 E30 320i and the fog lights indicator, central warning light for Check Control and handbrake indicator lights are not going.

Would this just be the bulbs that need replacing or could it be something else???

Thanks for any help in advance.

yeah will just be the bulbs - generally people take them out as a quick fix option when selling.. pain in the arse I know.. thats why it pays to check they all light up when you starti t.

The check engine can sometimes function on off constantly so alot of people dont replace this one.

Cheers E30stz, there are 2 bulbs missing and 1 has blown.

Anybody know where to get new bulbs?

Also, is the warning light got a bigger bulb or not?

Thanks again

BM Workshop on Gt North Rd has them for good prices.

The colour of the plastic mount dictates the wattage of the bulb, so if all are the same colour then the wattage is the same for all.

pretty easy to fix, id just buy the replacement bulbs and get into it, you have to take the steering wheel to get the cluster out, not too hard to do, maybe 2 hours?

Easier with the wheel off, but not needed, the cluster does come out with the wheel on.

Took the wheel off and replace three bulbs that were'nt even in there.
