Guest Spargo Report post Posted November 26, 2006 (edited) 5 speed out of an M roadster. why? cheaper dogleg alternative (1:1 top I think?) Edited November 26, 2006 by Spargo
Guest Andrew Report post Posted November 26, 2006 5 speed out of an M roadster. why? cheaper dogleg alternative (1:1 top I think?) yep your 3:64 diff will make the gearing really short though.
Gus 5 Report post Posted November 26, 2006 you sure its 1:1 top? anyway...you WILL need to change diff...yours is 3.73? mine with 3.23 is bordering on too revvy for long trips...taupo was suck
Guest Spargo Report post Posted November 27, 2006 Yea its a 3:73. Trent and Stu recomment sticking with the 260 compared to the ZF 5-speed, mainly due to design flaws and they are difficult to shift under heavy loading and weight transfer, the shift feel is crap, and they are a bit heavier than the E30 Getrag. Also, I'm guessing that the shifter would also be sitting at an angle, and i'd need an E30 M3 driveshaft too. I guess i'll just rebuild my 260 then Anyone had this done, whats it going to cost me? Here are the ZF specs: First 4.21 Second 2.49 Third 1.66 Fourth 1.24 Fifth 1.00 Reverse 3.89 Clutch Size (mm) 240 Final Drive Axle Ratio (:1) 3.23 Would also be damned tricky finding a 3.23:1 E30 LSD.
