Gus 5 Report post Posted April 2, 2004 im looking at changing the 2 front shocks on the ol e30...the ones in there are 16 years old and had stupid low springs in! since bilsteins arent cheap and my student OD is being used already, what sorta shocks are pretty reasonably priced but are decent...i know ollie is running kyb's, how do u find those? how much? i might also look at stock BMW shocks....andrews ones are near new and feel good with the jamexes...btw im running jamex 40 mm progressive springs
Guest Speedye30 Report post Posted April 2, 2004 I also use kyb shocks f&r, for the very same reason. Put in car about 18 months ago. So far so good.

Guest Speedye30 Report post Posted April 3, 2004 Steer clear of Monroe! Get Bilstein or Koni if you can afford them. KYB is a good value alternative.

Gus 5 Report post Posted April 3, 2004 any idea of $$ for KYB's? wouldnt they be shorter than stock anyway?
Guest Speedye30 Report post Posted April 3, 2004 Can you get shortened KYBs..? Yes My KYBs cost $95+gst rear. Front $145+gst. Not sure exactly what is in there, but Dave at TSV in Palmy here did the choosing and it handles nicely. (He is very clever with suspension!) Oh ^ those prices are for each, not pair. Gus 5 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 this is only for the front.....shouldnt be a problem..

Guest Andrew Report post Posted April 4, 2004 this is only for the front.....shouldnt be a problem.. you still want them to match the spring rate correctly
Gus 5 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 but the captivity issue shouldnt be a prob...my stock ones are fine on the front..unless.....mine have been shortened...hmm
