Cooling System Pressurizing Problem?? 320i E30

I have been offered a dirt cheap e30 pre f/l 320i, only catch is there is a "minor" problem with the cooling system - it appears to not be pressurizing. It drives fine around town, but once you hit motoway speed it pressurizes and blows the heat hose off. Has anybody heard of, or had this problem before? How much can I expct to spend to fix it? Thanks

Sounds like head gasket to me.

How much to fix? Lots. Head might be cracked too, a common problem.
