grantm 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) I have an auto 318 Ti - just a quetsion to those more familiar with autos - I am a manual gearbox person at heart, and going to find a Ti manual this year ..but to my question - in E mode it has four gears , but if I put it in sport mode, it only seems to have three speeds - is this normal, or do I have a faulty transmission ? Seems to behave normall other that I figured it should have 4 speeds in sport mode too , just lower ratios. In manual mode it seems to operate normally. Thanks in advance Edited March 4, 2007 by grantm
Hartage 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 That is correct, Sport mode should hold the gears to higher revs, and remove the overdrive or top gear. If thats how i remember mine working
Persh 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 The E36 318ti has a General Motors trans (THM-R1). When in sport mode, it raises the change point in each gear. 4th gear should still be there but from memory, you have to have the revs pretty high in 3rd to get it - in other words - over 140-150kph. Give it a go (on a closed road, of course) and let me know.
