  1. yea sorry mate still a bit new to it done the research and yea I see now that it is certainly possible to do almost anything with the OBD2 port The main things I have read on other forums of people doing with it - disable seatbelt light/sound - recode lights for new LEDs - add electronic speed to dashboard - enable certain features previously disabled now if I can just find someone who is able to do this! no luck so far, no reply from josh (hybrid)
  2. Oh right I see Is it possible to reset / recode via OBD2?
  3. mad fun hey question though, IBUS port that navcoder refers to, is that the same as the OBD2 port which my car supposedly uses? Its a 2009 Year car IBUS = OBD2?
  4. lol yeah darn I noticed the Timaru in your profile haha So you're confident it can be done then? Easy job? Btw I saw a post on an international forum about a guy in Germany who does custom coding, like adding an option to show actual velocity in the dash electronically you do things like that too / know anyone who can? http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=452070
  5. cheers for the headsup I've sent him a PM!
  6. hey man im in north shore, auckland forgot to mention re: resistors I'm sort of keen to reflash rather than add resistors, failing that I was considering another option which was adding some more LEDs on the bumper as additional daytime lights which would hopefully increase the power consumption to the same/beyond the level it was with halogens & hopefully cancel the errors also
  7. My cars running aftermarket projector headlights with HID 35W kit replacing the standard 55W halogens Been working fine, i installed some tiny LEDs replacing halogens which were acting as the daytime lights now its throwing bulbout errors, based on what I've read / spoken to others, because the LEDs draw less power Im sure its like less than 5watts difference cause those things are TINY anyway is anyone able to change the computer settings so it accepts the new power level & stops throwing errors?
  8. Hey brother, yea done a fair bit of research on the whole matter My HID headlights are MTEC which apparently shouldn't throw errors which perhaps explains why they havent for the past 8 months. But it's weird that as soon as I swapped the 16 filament/halogen tiny bulbs that power the rings, I get bulbout errors. What you reckon I should do I'm trying to hunt around and find a workshop that could possibly OBD code the computer to accept the new levels
  9. Hey there Got a 2009 135i due for a service. Last serviced @ 2000km in February, now at around 11,000km,October Will just an oil change be sufficient? Also are there any shops which can hook up to the OBD port, do a proper scan for errors etc & update the service interval Oh btw, does anyone do OBD programming in auckland? Theres a dude in germany ex BMW technician did OBD coding for another dudes 135i added some cool stuff like Digital speed reading on dash Cheers!
  10. Had the LEDs installed to the headlights (the headlights are aftermarket Projector headlights) Anyway getting error codes thrown on the dash now because every time i do a coldstart I get lighting system failure errors, it's usually just the once per coldstart but its still annoying. Anyone got any thoughts, I've heard it happening on a variety of bmws when people switch out bulbs etc. What are the usual fixes?
  11. Hey guys Yea E82 model, and ya hilarious zero instructions included, but thrn that's cause they're supposed to be purchase in conjunction with the headlights, not separately, anyway the guys told me its relatively straightforward just pull out the headlight, open the back, take out the old ones put in these new ones Just not that keen on doin it myself, don't even know where to start taking the headlamp out lol So yea wat u guys recommend, I'm on the north shore auckland
  12. Bought some LED replacements for the angel eye rings on my cars headlights but i got this in the mail lol apparently like i have to take the headlamps out of the car first, then open the back and remove the old leds which are like these, and put in these mate i figured i just come here find one of you ekshperts and meet up wit yas or a lighting shop if you guys wanna recommend one
  13. yea not 100% sure on the servicing, but we spoke to the dealership at the time and they said warranties weren't able to be transferred Perhaps I should call and check on servicing
  14. It's not really about the money, just want a decent service and I don't really have much faith in dealership servicing nor am I sold on the notion that dealers provide the best car-service, which is really all I was enquiring about, where to get a decent car service regarding out of free servicing, i'm the second owner, and BMW decided to cancel transferring of warranties to 2nd owners, and also servicing I think, though I'm not 100% sure on that actually but I would assume servicing would be cancelled with the warranty? some kind of new policy the guy said at the time when i asked him bout warranty
  15. how long do you plan on keeping the car? if its at least 2-3 years you may as well trade it for that black since you're going to lose probably 20/30,000$ value over the next few years, so why not opt for trading up to a higher model car where you probably won't even lose that much in trade now + get quad exhaust AND get a black car which is more appealin in terms of sales than white your call im sure you had a good reason to stick witit
  16. cant find bavarian motor in the white pages what about Burgers motor work http://yellow.co.nz/companies/Automotive-R...045617_880.html should i buy my own oil from repco to make sure its top notch or wat
  17. if you legit want quad exhausts like i said in another thread, you're probably looking at $2500 at least minimum but then if you're gonna go to all this effort, you might as well try trade up that 335i which already has Quads, and spend the money on gettin that
  18. don't until you got the money to get a proper replacement lol if you do a chop shop weld job you'll regret it they sound crap, even if you want louder, its not the kinda loud you want lol
  19. yea fab new bmw policy, no warranty transfers no real long cranks yet so yea just wanted to check really but yea as you say its definately been noted as a problem cause I read of other recalls for like Fire Hazards and random stuff so wanted to see if there was anything goin on here wont comment on the iphone, just going by what I've read, you're probably right about people hyperventilating, but then, Steve Jobs wouldn't come on stage and say we'll try fix it if it wasn't that big ah well, I'm not an iphone user lol
  20. quick look @ whitepages theres 2 1 in grey lynn 1 in east tamaki bit of a stretch, for a service when theres like a million places on the shore, but then i suppose i just asked for recommendations haha
  21. So the 135i is just over 10,000KM now and the previous oil change / service was at 2000km Thinking it'd be a good time to get a basic service? oil change at least Anyone wanna recommend what things to get done at this 10k mark? Just oil? And then can ya'll recommend places on the Shore or Auckland City that know BMWs well
  22. not under warranty but logically speaking wouldn't warranty be irrelevant in the event of a recall regarding HPFP i've read extensively on the topic on US BMW forums, and if it's a software fix they're offering, I don't want it, cause it ain't a real fix as documented by plenty of members on the forums @ 1addicts It's a pump problem not a software problem Cheers for the petrol tip, I actually noticed that also in my readings so yea almost always bp98 Anywho I'll give them a call and see whats new
