  1. I just noticed a small oil leak on the floor, so had a quick look under the bonnet, and touched under the vacuum pump and there was fresh oil under there. A quick googled showed a few results and videos that the seal/s commonly fail and can be replaced easily enough, the pump comes off the head (1 seal) and there is a cap on the pump that comes off (seal 2). Can buy them off ebay easily/cheaply enough so might go that way.
  2. Hi all, I noticed a bit of oil under the vacuum pump, and the wife had complained about an oil smell, so this appears to be the culprit. Does anyone know if you can buy just the 2 o ring seals here in NZ anywhere? Or should I just order off Ebay and wait a couple weeks? Looks straight forward to repair myself. Cheers
  3. Thanks, yes tried them. Looks like my best option is to buy from ebay, would get one landed here for $50 or $60 nz
  4. So not too keen on $250 for that little bit of plastic from the dealer, am I likely to find any parts guys, wreckers with these cars in NZ? Or should I just order from overseas? Any particular places overseas to deal with?
  5. Thats my next step, will see how I get on, I guess used would be hard to come by
  6. Hi guys I just noticed yesterday that the lower right hand grill on the front bumper of my 07 e61 lci motorsport has come out and disappeared. Any suggestions where to start searching for parts please? I guess locally would be good, or do I have to go to ebay etc? I see on ebay they are like 26 pounds plus freight. Cheers
  7. I think to get blue tooth working is like $1600
  8. I bought the autosure extreme warranty a couple months back when i bought my 550i. Was $1800 for 3 years, and covers extra stuff like electrical, shocks, etc etc. I think they only cover them up to 12 years old and 160km, covers up to $10,000. Mines done just over 100km and what i have read so far the first thing to do will be change the trans fluid. Quality cars after coming from Falcons etc. Any things picked up in the PPI the dealer would rectify. Plus you can go back to them if you find anything else not working when you get home. Just do it.
  9. So just the top edge of my headlights on E61 are very cloudy looking and small cracks. I did give it a bit of a polish a few weeks back which helped a little, but it is gone bad again. The rest of the headlights are perfect, its just that top edge maybe 20mm wide. I have read that you can wet sand your headlights back to good and polish them up. Do you think it would have to sand my entire headlight to keep it uniform, or just sand the top edge back to clean it up? Any advice appreciated.
  10. I had mine done a few months ago at Auto Gravity and they were great and helpful also. Nav and radio converted was $700, I think you can just get the radio done for $250 - $300?
  11. I will agree with some of the earlier posts, if there isnt much in it, comparing 80kms to 50kms, I would go for the newer car with higher kms (but choose condition over everything else). I went for higher mileage tidy car (105kms with facelift) over older car with less kms. You soon rack up the Kms in the car anyway. I have often seen people with a nice tidy vehicle and think, wow that looks like a nice car, and then you are surprised when you see it has done 180kms.
  12. I went through this process and bought a 550i wagon a month or two back. There is a thread down the page somewhere. Yes the lci came in 2007, which has among other things the electric transmission shifter (meant to be very slight better for fuel use), led taillights and other cosmetic mods. Definetly get the motorsport version. The V8 I have found on open road to be pretty good on fuel maybe 12l/100 and round town obviously worse, wouldnt be much/ if any more than my old ba xr6 falcon. Any other questions fire away, I think its a great car for the money.
  13. Thanks, yea we love it. Yes the $700 to have the nav converted also converts the radio at the same time. Otherwise I think you can pay maybe $250 - $300 just to have the radio done without the nav converted. Just in the process of tinting the windows myself, am half way done - has been a bit harder than doing my ute haha.
  14. Ended up getting them coded back on when I had the nav converted. And I replaced the angel bulbs with led and the cornering lamps with a white halogen. Looking a lot better now
  15. You think is worth it? I tried the free version using a cheap generic Bluetooth obd2 adaptor but it kinda struggled to connect and wouldn't run the diagnoses. Buying there adaptor is like $80 plus the $70 for the app. I think I have to use the Bluetooth rather than cable as mine is lci
