Official Dynavin E46 Thread.

Cool let us know what you think, They are the same internal's as the e46 and is running the sunplus chipset where as v1 - v4 run the zoran chipset. They also run the new menu system.

So Prestige Audio's response to me having a look at the unit for my 5 series in person was to send me a photo of it installed in an X5. Great...

I think I'm just going to go ahead and get it, this is the only system that looks OEM enough for me, i guess ill just have to harden up about the ugly screen location. Just waiting now to find out for sure if NZ bought ones have digital tv tuners built in. If not, Im saving myself $300 and getting it from the states.

Prestige Audio are charging $1299 by the way.

wow, didnt realise this was available for the E46! and Dynavin is from Taiwan... (where i'm originally from).

Looks like an awesome unit, and it should make its way on to my E46 very soon too!

I am gona see what kind of prices I can get from Taiwan as I have family there, I also have the IGO 8.3 NZ maps if anyone needs it, Aug 2010 update, with POIs, speed cams etc. also got maps for the rest of the world too. haha.

THanks to M-spec for this Dynavin info! luckily i didnt just go and get a normal aftermarket headunit for my E46.

Is the Digital TV in these compatible with NZ digital system? I understand from Jochen that our digital is a new generation system & different to Europe at least

NZ uses DVBT-MPEG 4... Most other countries use MPEG-2. not sure about Dynavin compatibility though.

Version 1-4 had the tuner built in, For the usa market the tuner was analog and everywhere else was digital. Now things have changed with V5, You get it as an extra and is a box that plugs into the back of the unit. The digital system you get for the V5 is compatible with the nz system.

I got mine directly from the usa so mine is analog.

To be honest i have not even hooked the tv up to an aerial as i dout i would be watching tv while driving. If on a long trip then the missus can just pop in a dvd in she wants to watch something.

I use primo for my navigation and have chucked igo 8.3 , They are both made by the same company but i find primo is more streamlined and it looks prettier lol. I have a special skin which i use on mine that gives you extra function's up the wazoo and am running the august updated maps from igo. I also run the 3d terrain which shows hills ect and when in town show's 3d buildings which is pretty cool.

All in all the dynavin is a fantastic system that looks about as oem as you are going to get from an aftermarket system, With the usb, ipod, navigation, bluetooth, dvd, radio, touch screen, all rolled into one and also being able to control everything via the steering wheel make's it a no brainer imo.

I cannot comment on the V5 ones as i have not seen or had a play with one, I don't really care as i am more than happy with my V4 one.

MPEG4 is just the transport layer, you also need the H264 decoding codec running. This is what makes NZ and Norway specail ... a few other countries have adopted this new standard too but for the most part, everyones on MPEG2

Hence the lack of DVB-T devices availible on the market.

Ive been looking at MPEG4/H264 12volt recievers from china, the only thing I would love is if you could somehow remotely control them. That way you could write an IBUS translator to RS232 from the ibus network then translate to the digital receiver ...

If someone was really clever they whole write a control interface for the unit similar to the way the intravee II system works.

You would need a MKIV or MKIII nav computer to make this all work I would say as you would pull the analogue tv module which drives the graphics normally.

Ummmmm yup ^^^^ what he said even though i don't understand any of it hahahaha, Surprised we are so up in the world in the terms of digital broadcast, makes us feel special.

I could be completely wrong in regards to being able to receive digital signal on the new V5 of the dynavin (for us anyway, To me it would not be a deal breaker though.

so does this unit have a built in GPS receiver? if so does an antenna have to be mounted elsewhere? sorry if this has been covered before.

yes the gps is all built in, My gps receiver just sits on the metal strut that runs along under the dash, It has a magnetic base and i have never had a problem with signal.

Hmm sounds very attractive ( have started looking at e46 options due to lack of decent e39's around at the moment).

Seems like a far better plan that dropping $750 plus on a later model radio module.

They are plug & play replacement for the standard OEM radio. To replace an existing OEM monitor, you will need a loom to run to the back of the car - radio tuner. I would say the oEM TV tuner would become non existent too.

I personally would never remove an OEM monitor etc to replace with one of these. That said - a good idea for a non monitor equipped car

Im in the same boat man, Im unsure of where to order one from for my E39. I would kind of rather get one in NZ. Let me know where you end out getting one from if you do. From what I have heard it is straight plug and play, but if you choose to add things on like reversing camera etc you obviously will have to wire that through the car etc..

Simply because I like OEM. Having seen a pictures of the E39 unit - I reacon it looks yuk compared to OEM (E46 an exception). I would reacon that quality would be marginal compared to OEM too.

Must recommend Renming. A month ago I told him I was keen on Dynavin for my E 46. Last thursday 18th Nov. he said "are you still keen ? " I was. He ordered the next day, they were shipped on Monday, arrived Friday morning, fitted Friday afternoon. Can assist in installation.

Why buy from elsewhere ? He deals directly with the manufacturer, speaks the language, and has his own company specialising in upgrading BMW Entertainment Systems.
