BMW Mini Cooper 2009 Change radio Frequency

Hi All

Just landed a 09 Cooper ex Japan for daughter and need to change the Jap radio frequencies to NZ. Anyone know how to do this or do I have to put in a band expander? A couple of UK forums talk about turning on the car holding in the m button but can't get this to happen so far unless their instructions are missing some vital step.

It can be done yes, not sure how but it can be done without the need for a band expander.
