"keep the standard airbox and replace the factory filter with a flat panel K&N filter and draw the air from the front as per standard.... imo pods are more hassle than they are worth.. "
I agree aswell. I have just kept the standard box and replaced the filter with a k&n. Sounds great.
Hi, I have a e36 323i and i am wanting to replace my whole exhaust system. i recently had a service and was told that my rear muffler was toast and that i need to replace it. So while im at it i thought i would replace the whole system from the headers back. What size pipe should i use. Also what type of rear muffler should i put back on (eg. straight through or not). Should i also take out my cat? I dont want it to be too loud, but i want to give it a nice rumble. Thanks
Hey, i have an E36. And i put a pod filter on it and i did not like the sound at all. It had a nice deep rumble but then at about 3000 rpm it had a very noisy ratle. So i have gone with a k&n panel filter. I am much happier. Also with a pod filter you suck in a lot of hot air. Where as if you go with a panel you use the standard intake which gets cold air ducted to it from the front grille.
Hi, I have a 1996 323i and am wanting to put an exhaust on it. It is auto so i dont want it to be too loud but i want it too have a nice rumble to it. What would you suggest. Would just replacing the end muffler do this or would i have to go for a full system. Thanks
