  1. Thanks that is important, it's the 'fly by wire,' so it will be the cable one, i'd better edit that. A trick for young players & older ones who already know the don't know everything.
  2. Thanks for responding, yeah see what turns up. Last piece of the puzzle.really. Don't want to end up be like that loss of a nail from the shoe of a horse that lost the war for the ancient Grecians.
  3. Hunting for an e46 Accelorator Pedal to finish a wee job. I need the cable one , for fly by wire fitting.
  4. Don't forget to clean those wee pipes across the top of ur tank. If there's even a little in ur tank upstairs needs to be either replaced or cleaned thoroughly too. Just my tuppence worth. Cheers.
  5. I have m42 & m44 engines available & Pelican parts are usually 40% less than BMW dealerships ex Germany, Also pays to use BMW Europe electolite too, not Austraian stuff. Thank you for your input, appreciated.
  6. Seems then it is possible. Depends how much trial & error going from straight forward with say m44 & later m42 with serpentine belt pulleys & other m 42 bits & pieces. Thanks to contributors & welcome any new entries to confirm or deny,
  7. Opinion & science need to conclude similar results & save time searching exstensively. But not being very computer able l need to follow others who ae more able than me,
  8. Yeah, If l was clever enough, to have an AI search engine, it would probably get the ideal set-up from m42/44 & other sites devoid of opinion but have the science sorted & save time & money would be the way to go. If it was just a need for performance buying the latest & best performance engine . I'm a period plus sort. Your dad's a wise man, in my opinion, & has science to back his choice, dynoes vary, but l had my e30 M3 match similar m44 setup total output. m44 better low down torque.
  9. Yeah, don't like to be the one to re-invent the wheel. Haven't found any who have done the m44 block m42 head lots of opinions alone doesn't prove it does work though.
  10. Does anyone know about it being possible or is it impossible?
  11. Does cam chain mate up as standard fit, if using m44 with rest of m42 piecces?
  12. I think the m44, while cast metal crank, doesn't need to be revved beyond 7600 rpm
  13. Yeah, the s42 on dyno could rev to 10,000rpm scary listening at' that, peak torque 7800rpm. With standard m44 on carbs 7200 rpm had rev limiter at 7600. On different dyno. Low down torque best to have.
  14. Do u know anyone who has used an m44 block & put rest of m42 head plus loom ECU?
  15. Before I tell someone it's likely to be an m44, because it has that low torque & about 100cc extra vroom, am l doing a dis-service to an s42 I am anxious to sel to himl. Rather have a happier end result for the person concerned. The wisdom from members of this forum is being sought.
  16. Don't try this at home, unless someone confirms that u won't do any harm to yourself or the pump' but to 'bench test with a 12volt battery checking red & black match up. Don't shoot me, did same with my external surge tank pump. It didn't pump or make a pump working sound so ordered another. We all have to learn the right fromwrong as we go.
  17. Yes Jon, didn't that great writer say, 'To Sell or Not to sell , that is the question.?' Someone, of lesser fame, told me once, if u keep ur sale as a secret it probably will not sell. ;People with the coin pick up on opportunities. Yeah', when containers become avaiilable I have another car to cram in which makes that mor viable.
  18. Yeah, the world at large has ebbs & flows, old cars probalbly do to, The' haves & have nots', i.e. the rich & the poor, the gap may widen. The rich have the problem of where to place their surplus money: in the bank - for what; stocks & shares- for when; buy seashore or hillside property - for how long. Leaves old cars with the arts & antiques. For some an old car in the shed that had appeal will still have appeal, can be viewed, even caressed or used for pleasure. Mmm history will only be able to tell.where an old car will be....
  19. OK, the e30 M3 is back home, Mileage is 99,668 miles. If I decide to keep I would install an electric fan, but keep the original. Thought is to do another NZ top-to-bottom road trip, which would take it over that ton miles. Yeah, heart-to-head decision.
  20. This car has the patina of time & use, to quote the latest vernacular, Neil. The US Collector auction circuit gives unmolested older cars a premium showing a bit of patina. Anal perfectionist examples are taking a hit. Yeah had two 318is a few years back, one was Brilliantrot. Had to tell a prospective Japanese buyer to cancel his flight over because the apprentice that serviced it when new snapped it up. Yeah, my favourite BMW model, a very balanced car to cross the Central Plateau in. Mine has a Henry Ford T colour.
  21. *the LHD emphasis was probably chasing the American market. I did know those figures, need refres to quote here. * corner weighting racing cars solves balance issue *the steering plumbing was blamed for 3tenth second difference for RHD
  22. I concur Dave.There is also a rarity element too l suspect.
  23. Yeah Send your email address for some photoes can't seem to be able to download onto here. Only genuine interested, time is important to me I'
  24. The theme so far from 'our inhouse' experts seems to suggest RHD cars although rare are not favoured as an investment car. - A pricing bracket in the $60-80k range perhaps, even to $120k - there maybe a glut of them now & in the future My reaction so far is maybe keep it as my 'my personal car of interest' * sell my other 'cars of interest' i.e. 1971 2002 s42 engined ; 1986 e30 325i Targa Car; 1988 e28 525ea;2002 Reno 225 F1 * keep: 2019 Triton GLXr ute daily; 1991 e30 318is - his favourite; 1990 e30 318ia - hers daily; 1991 e30 M3 - car of interest
