  1. Dave, you could buy my complete 1990 FL 318 Coupe in Delphen, car is complete with engine etc, except have stripped interior ready for cage, But if it helps someone out they could buy it for $750Mark
  2. Proud to fly the union jack on my Race car although it stirs up grief at the track. Think it gives the locals a target to aim for.... From way down south...where they have pebbles on the beaches and one and half piers remaining Been here about 9 years but would move back tomorrow given the chance..miss racing at Brands and the warm beer. Fantastic result in Moscow !!!!!
  3. Ill buy it for the price you mention. Just boarding a flight from Melbourne so not landing till early hours. My number during the w.end 021 511116. Thanks Dave for the heads up. Mark
  4. I'll even put a bimmersport sticker on it too
  5. Ok i'll make it nice and easy..$2500 as i really could do with selling the car quickly. Paid $4,000 just a couple of weeks ago as i felt that was a fair price for good condition 1990 320 Manual with fairly low milage given it's age. Original idea was to convert this to my race car as the colour is so much better given that my car along with many other all seem to be Metallic grey or similar dark colours. However have decided to vinyl wrap my race car instead as the cost to swap everything over was just not economical. Usual thing with me impulse buy then sell a few weeks later at a loss. Could really do with having the space back as my trailer is now having to sit outside.
  6. Maybe $2995 sounds much better
  7. will be back from overseas on monday, so will try and sort some more pictures then. Car is well known to Bavarian Motors as they carried out manual conversion to a very high standard. This is a nice car that is offered for sale at below what it is really worth, Have owned this vehicle twice and paid over $4,000 each time however i accept for a quick sale i need to offer at a cheap and fair price hence $3,000. As already mentioned i am on the north shore.

    Speedshow 2008

Thanks for the help, crikey i never realised so many cars were here in NZ. I believe Mike done a deal with his E21 for the 3 x WTCC cars.If you are able to ask that would be great and then Keith from Speedshow can approach each person. Keith will be at our final race meeting in a couple of weeks, so i guess he will be chatting then to Mike and Conrad about having their cars on display. I believe Andre and Mike tubbs also drive ex touring cars ?? Who owns the Benson and hedges ex Tony longhurst car? Keith sharp raced his Group A M3 against that car in the Wellington street race years ago. Thanks again Mark

    Speedshow 2008

Speedshow 2008 which will be held at the ASB showgrounds this year. By all accounts it will be around 4 or 5 times the size of 2007. www.speedshow.co.nz one of the many themes will be the history of BMW in NZ Motorsport. Keith Sharp is currently trying to locate as many BMW Race Cars with history here in NZ. Any suggestions or known whereabouts would be appreciated. Cars i know of: Mike Delmont WTCC BMW Conrad Timms Ex Group A M3 Ex Steve Soper Group A M3 somewhere in the south island (anybody have a name) Any body know of where Keith Sharps Ex Group A M3 (Castrol) car is in the south island ?? Ex Frank Gardner JPS 325 E30 advertised on Trade-Me
  11. Yes this is the 240 Manual as required for the 320's. The 2nd hand gearbox in my race car cost about $1200 for the kit and i then spent a further $1000 having it overhauled. To be honest i'm not sure this is really necessary as they appear failry robust however i just did not want any issues mid season. As always i have since found out i could have had the gearbox overhauled a lot cheaper as the parts thru BMW with our discount mean if you can find cheap labour then you dont really need a specialist gearbox place. I would imagine anyone buying a gearbox for a race car would have the syncro's replaced as a matter of caution, apart from that i believe they are a good strong box. Thanks Mark
  12. 320 Manual Gearbox (240) $250 Manual steering rack brand new $50 (rack only) LH & RH coupe doors with glass and trim $50 pair Boot Lid (Diamond Swarzt) $25 or $300 the lot Mark 021 511116
  13. Shipped a race car car about 2 years ago from UK, total cost was about nz$7k. The container was dropped off at the location in the UK. They put the car in along with heaps of spares and i picked it up from customs clearance in Auckland. Took about 6 weeks. Could have been cheaper if i opted for roll on roll off, but felt it was better secured on it's own in a 20ft container.Mark
  14. Actually some of the FL also had the High top pistons...Just depends which country the engine was destined for. For example countries like Japan had the low compression engine however if you look at the BMW parts catalogue you will see the 9.8:1 pistons were available right up to model year 1990. Believe me i have spent hours upon hours researching this and even purchased the odd engine from Dave just to check measurements. I believe John Sampson did have a brand new set available..Glendene Engine Services/specialist..sorry cannot recall tel number at present. As someone has already said the standard bore size high compression pistons are still available ex BMW, just not the .5mm overbore size. I believe the ones John sampson has are the .5mm overbore size. However i do doubt if there is much difference between the standard size and the .5mm oversize, only my opinion though. I would certainly consider the ones Dave has because they will be the high compression just standard bore size and judging by the number of pistons i have looked at it appears these engines are pretty robust. so options i see, Dave 2nd hand but much cheaper than new, John sampson over size but brand new, or Standard size brand new ex BMW. Hope this may help Mark
  15. Actually some of the fl 320's also have the 9.8;1 pistons. BMW parts guide lists these pistons as an option for models 88/89/90 too. Just depends which country the engine was intended for and if they have strict emission controls ie Japan etc. But as Dave says if you fully rebuild your 320 and carry out the permitted mods as per race series cars then anywhere between 115-125 hp could be possible depending which rolling road you use etc. Can't help thinking it may be a lot less hassle and far cheaper just putting a 325 engine in. They say there is no substitute for cc !!
  16. 204,000km....just run in:) No rego, but at thats reflected in the price. Just thought $750 was a cheap price for a Manual 320. Not too worried if it does not sell, just a hassle storing at present.
  17. Thanks Dave, just checked the service book, was sold new by Coutts BMW great north rd. Actually when i got it home i gave it a good wax/clean and it came up great accept the bonnet
  18. Factory Manual NZ new 4 door 320, complete car. red, all panels/doors/bumpers undamaged except bonnet which lets it down. Being manual from new means it has the correct 240 manual gearbox for race series. Would like to sell the car over next 2 days so offered cheap at $750. Would imagine the cost of a manual conversion kit alone would be a similar price. Engine/suspension/wheels all appear good. Mark 021 511116
  19. E30 320 1987 NZ new manual. 4 door, red. Fairly tidy car although bonnet lets it down at present. Purchased car as it is a Manual from new and could do with the gearbox as a spare, but just do not have time to remove from car. Paid a $1,000 and will sell for same if anyone interested. Guess it would also make a good manual conversion kit to sell on and then make some money from rest of car. Mark 021 511116
  20. Have a 1987 nz new 320 4 door. Fairly tidy car although a respray to the bonnet would make it better. will be removing manual box before selling but $500 for rest of car if interested Mark
  21. Found the missing wire...it appears that there is a third wire that connects to the starter which in turns controls those 2 relays you mentioned. Black/green as you say. As it was a single thin wire it was hidden behind the main engine loom next to the block. Thanks again Mark
  22. Thanks Grant, spent hours yesterday checking all the wiring loom and the blue relay Ray suggested.... still not working. Seems there is no live feed at the fuses when the ignitionj is on. Will print out your suggestions and have another go today. Getting pretty hot in the car with the windows not working and no fan Keep you posted and thankyou to every one for help Mark
