  1. A lot of you Bimmersportians have meet Jock (my brother) (stylesm5) though this forum. Some of you are aware of his continuing battle with cancer. He's recently taken a bit of a turn for the worse, and things aren't looking too crash hot at the moment. Sorry to say he's past seeing people for the time being, but I'll do my best to pass on any messages if you want to reply here. He's still in great spirits, and we've had a lots of chats about various stuff over the last couple of days. As you can guess this isn't the easiest thread to start, so please excuse me if its in the wrong place. I'm sure he would want to say something here, but that's looking less and less likely as the days (hours) pass. Visit jocks diary. Thanks for your time, Duncan.
  2. hi team - me and the bro (stylesm5) went for a ganda. some "action" shots are here
  3. from coromandel town to whitianga - no traffic and after the big hill the road flows really well. The back road to taupo is mapped on http://ocbc.co.nz. 1. click on RidesWeDid on the right hand menu 2. read the Route Map instructions 3. click on the link below back road to taupo, and your waypoints are in there. pm me if you're stuck
  4. had the same number all year - 46. mainly in the jaguar owners club xj race series, but i got tangled up in the anglo german challenge a couple of times. Will post another photo of the start line. 3 speed auto (GM400) was da bomb!! especially trying to use 1st when its kitted to the max and tries to spin the car when braking and changing.
  5. i think i over braked into one of the courners and he got past. Definitely on same lap!!! Bonnet fit due to some hasty repairs after spinning off into a concrete wall. Lesson 1 in spins - stand on the brakes!!!! Then when the car has slowed enough to get traction it won't fly off into a wall or worse, into another car!! learned that the hard way - those xjs are built like tanks and darn near impossible to straighten. Nice to meet you today Cain - see you're a frod driver too!
  6. So how about a few photos of a Bimmer coming second??? I managed to hold out this 535 at Donnington in 1988.

  9. my wife's e36 had a stuffed guibo joint. this is reallt serious as it is the rubber doofer that joins the drive shaft together just behind the gear box. hers failed a wof. wof man said if it busts the drive shaft might drop out and up end the car - bummer. check it out -
  10. hi tech brake and clutch in newmarket do a race pad called ebc green stuff. not sure how much. i had standard ebc pads in the threeta (e30 325) - they were really cool. good blend of: lasted ages no dust reasonable fade resistance on the track you need to bleed your brakes and make sure they have fresh fluid in them. Old fluid will have water in it, which will boil, and the pedal will go to the floor - not funny. if your car is on the track for the frst time, the brakes will fade major big time after one lap - not funny either at the end of the back straight. So take it easy after they fade and let them cool for two laps, and then they should work all day. Standard bed in procedure is: fit new pads, do 10 average stops from 50km/h in a row. that's the instructions i got with new bendix pads. have fun on the track.
  11. not sure what they're worth - so taht's why they're on tm - feel free to bid -they're up to 35 - which seems about right to me. i got new front pads for the falcon from brake and clutch for 67 - no dust either - not really track pads though.

  20. they are the most amazing 3rd gear car ever - from next to walking pace all the way to 160 at 7200rpm - and howwwwlllll then whack into 4th and it still pulls like a school boy - wharhouuuuuu
  21. what colour is the dark blue called in the prevoius post - its my all time fravourite!!!! How hard is it to get that sort of colour mixed??? What do i need to say to the friendly panel beater when he resprays my car? i guess i could show him this site and tell him go for it
  22. make sure you tell them about EVERY mod - as soon as you claim they'll decline on the basis that the mod made the car stand out more. and hence the higher premiums for mod cars!! i'm paying about $80 pa for 3rd party only - but 65% no claims and i'm a little over 25 (41)!! hahaha sounds like the premiums we paid in the uk - approx $2000 pa for thrid party only with 65% no claims!!! (325i) is group 7 over there - in the really scary high premium bracket)
