Cheers guys for all your help and suggestions. Got barrel replaced. Apparently the underlying problem was the steering lock mechanism that was causing the key to jam and so disabled steering lock otherwise would've had to replace just about all the steering column.

Got into my car this morning and the steering lock was engaged and the key is unable to be moved in the ignition. Tried the CRC thing but no luck. Tried the AA roadside assist and it was beyond him. Why has this happened and how can I fix it??? The car is an 1989 BMW E30

I have just bought a 1989 320i as my first car. Have a bit of a problem with water getting in the car and sitting under the floor mats. I understand that a possible cause is a leak in the wiper motor compartment, which somewhere a seal deteriorates and lets water in, had a look but couldnt see where that seal is. Can anyone explain to me how to fix this leak???
