  1. Thanks guys I definatley go for the 328 ,not a fan of autos, is the M52 belt driven cam or chain . damn already ordered the input bearing ,was bit noisy under exceleration Pity i didnt here ask first.
  2. looking at a replacement for my 635 csi getting a bit long in the tooth & parts getting hard to find .Even new parts scarce - bearing for the 262 box 6 weeks ex Germany$250 . So im looking at a 94 -98 325 or 328 , manual coupe . doesnt seem much difference power wise only 1kw . Iwant it for long distance travel not a daily driver ,so which is better. I assume they are different engines but 1kw seems little gain for extra 300cc &newer tech . Is it a heavier car as 3 series getting up to size &weight of original 5 series . Any you guys here owned both for comparison?
  3. Wish i could make $3g diagnosis without looking . Connect 12v to comp lead -if runs but discharge only warm its low gas&rechagre as above .It has a low pressure cutout when gas gets too low ,prevents a/c cutting in . If its controls need testing by BMW tech . Still wouldnt cost anything like above . They either dont know or give hi $ as they would probably get tech to fix then charge you $3g.
  4. There was a genuine JPS 635 csi in Johnsonville that used to frequent car shows used to belong to Hugh Tunley he was connected with driver training at Manfeild . He has passed away so dont know what happened to the car , it was for sale $50g ono.
  5. RE air cond . Lot of BS around regarding retrofit . There are drop in replacements for R12 that only require the system be evacuated then recharged ,should only cost $100 max . Even R134a only needs oil change & liqiud line filter replaced , should only cost around $250 . I have done limo fleets & taxis with both , the drop in refrig is a bit dearer so if it needs topping up often go for R134a. Fitting A/C to non A/c car like BmW would be nightmare esp the controls .

    selling my 635

looking for replacement coupe . the 328 manual coupe of around 95 looks interesting .whats their performance like ,tried 325 but wondered if 328 is better .Were there any particular issues with it as they seem cheap .330ci would be ultimate choice but $ wont stretch that far . cheers
  7. Hi i am refurbishing rear brakes on my 80 635. My chiltons manual says "the step on the pistons must face the side of the caliper at 20 o angle where the disc enters the caliper when vehicle is moving forward " Does that mean the raised side in at angle but angled which way clock wise or anti clock .
