  1. Yeah & they get owned by that 2002 turbo in the open BMW class racing too bit of a surprise . Saw Mosens blow an engine last meet , must have been expensive , probably why they want such hi prices for their used parts lol
  2. Ok definatley take just the left passenger 1 the shock is leaking after I hit a huge pot hole month ago so I will swap the springs over to existing . Transport to Levin Thanks
  3. In Levin interested if price is reasonable freights from ham to here usually around $15 cheers
  4. I need to replace damaged left front strut in my E36 328 is there any difference between the 325 & 328 ie spring rate or the damper as I am looking to get a used 1 .
  5. I do it every time going to Hutt . Used to live at the start at akatarawa. good short cut , i do upper hutt to levin in 1hr 10 min . once know the road can be good drive but watch for motorhomes comming through , its regarded as a senic road . Also Tthe moonshine road pahatanui to upper hutt , gravel mostly .
  6. Mine only atracts dogs . Everytime I take it out of the garage my mutt pees on all 4wheels twice ,first clockwise then anti clockwise . Especialy likes to do it after cleaning it just to make sure all other dogs know who owns it .
  7. I only tried local dealer for cylinders , in end only cost $150 to have them sleeved in SS & new seals .
  8. Sold ( gave away )my 1980 6 35 in march . Parts specific to them impossible to get & BMW stopped making parts for them while ago .This I found to my expense after taking the 5 speed out & spliting it for overhaul only to find no parts available anywhere -i tried every BMW supplier i could find world wide .Not even the bearings & no substitute available either . Best I could get was SKF said if I gave them the old bearings they could remanufacture at $$ . Couldnt get master cylinder or clutch slave so had to get them resleeved . BMW said they would always provide parts for their classics but guess economics & pressure to sell new cars changed that , needless to say I was very dissapointed & glad to be rid of it . Bought a 328 i s now .
  9. Lucky not in Uk old top gear 4last nite 8000 quid for insurance on turbo 2000 quid car ??????? & its compulsory
  10. Emailed classic cover (vero) & they assure me the agreed value sum insured is the $payout if it was a total loss , any alteration to value would be at MY REQUEST. Had 3 cars with them straight up crowd dont know if Mark Joblin is still the principal but my claim was done via net , just sent photos & quote from my prefered repairer & all done even asked if i was completely satisfied with the job before paying the repairer. But dont know if they take on under 25 s .
  11. It nearly died when they had other marques ,the falcodore series at least kept it going . It already costs several mill to run a V8 season& a lot cant afford it now , so how the hell would they afford mercabeems without direct factory teams ,( currently not allowed ). The 2 litre series was open to all marques but it failed to get much interest & was dropped . Even the Euro teams struggling to make it in their own back yard without another series to compete in . Might see Toyota in but that would be it . Even our home V8 boys finding it tough to get $$ to compete ,look at the smaller feild this year .

    635 CSI

Ive had my 80 manual for 8years virtualy rebult , put 87 donk in after old 1 did the head gasket twice &recoed the head . being ex uk had rust in rear gaurds which had to have patches then full repaint plus the usual stuff on a 30 year old car -all the brake gear water & fuel hoses d shaft do nut & centre bearing . Was my weekend warrior but now up for sale as bought 95 328 is until i can find anther project BMW . Missed out on rusty 535 manual that sold for $1500 last year all 635 csi s around have been done up or full resto .. Good to drive long distance & still attract attention . mine is on Tm at moment
  13. hi my E36 328is has these "GT racing 'chrome wheels with Toyo proxes 245/40 /zr/18 tyres on when i bought it . it goes round corners like on rails but its hard ride like a billy cart on coblestones & constantly correcting for bumps or tramlining very tiring on long trips . I want something more for long distance touring than tearing around corners flat out , tyre merchants give conflicting advice , just trying to sell the most expensive combo they can i suspect . So any recommendations ?
  14. well i recently bought a 96328 s spec nz new only difference being its manual drove an M328 & couldnt feel any difference in handling or performance & was 2G$ dearer
  15. coincidence i just bought a 328is with GTracing chromes with new Toyo proxes 245/40/zr18 s on it . Dont like the chrome so was going to get it disolved & powder coated white as car is that deep metalic blue.
  16. well i think i have exhausted all avenues for it . It is a one off made for getrag boxes & not available as stock item .Have E mailed 15 suppliers of 635 parts wordwide & only 1 reply . Most just flogging aftermarket bits . give up put it back as is.
  17. damn, after dismantling my gearbox out of my 635 csi to replace the bearings ,I am now told BMW no longer stocking parts for obsolete models . Cant scource them anywhere else even Getrag not interested .Still cant blame them , all other manufactureres long since stopped stocking old model parts . Guess bowing to worldwide government pressure to have us all driving new computerised ,disposable boxes on wheels .At least the yanks have enough demand to support an aftermarket buisness remaking everything for old chevs & Fords .Maybe I will buy a old Mustang next .Luckily I kept all old bearings so can put it back together .
  18. He He nothing like a threat to boys fav pastime to get their backs up . Maybe they should all drive around the Beehive with their slammed & ultra loud sh*t boxes . That will get ministers attention lol.
  19. cops dont just pick on young guys John Rae who owns a insurance brokering was done for sustained loss of traction in his car (porsche I think ) .Also meant losing his racing licence as well. As stated if you have a full ylegal car at a gathering , nothing to worry about . Dont hear the hot rod or muscle car guys getting their knickers in a twist over it ,because they have fun legally. So all you lot grizling over getting your car crushed - suck it up ,bring on the new laws . I have had hot v8 s with huge tyres scoops "best fun at drag strip , These racer kids do it because its the illegality of it that gives them the buzz. & its not just a few .
  20. well they brought it on them selves . Once it gets to smashing cop cars,&threatening them ,they are going to get real tough . They already had legislation to seize cars now just expanding on it . If it was just noisy burnouts it wouldnt be necessary .Just shows the contempt these racers have for law .
  21. Panel beater /restorer of 30 years experiance says unless car has major structural rust, (eg pillars rusted through) always work with what you have .He has seen several jobs where body swap has gone horribly wrong& owner forked out mega $just to get electrics sorted let alone all the critical chassis dimensions only available from manufacturer .Big difference between factory fit &amature fit . .Also if you get a 525 auto body, problems will arise on revinning as chassis # wont match & have a at end & will require certification as LVV( more $$$.)Unless you do the chop shop boys method of cutting out all chassis # &rewelding into new body shell( expertly ).He says biggest cost is paint &can save thousands by delivering it to paint shop pre primed ,wet sanded ,& ready for paint .Get stuck in with a grinder ,cut patches & get them mig welded in flush treat with anti rust prep &skim bog .The front headlight/ grille panel is only$230 new. That way you still have a legal car able to be sold for market value rather than a hashed cut &swap job. cheers
  22. grand if it can be driven . I need another project get bored otherwise would be good stablemate for my 635 csi lol
  23. I might still be interested in buying it (at right price ) way less than what you paid ,if you want to put it onTm again . i did thorough inspection of it &know exactly what is involved . amazing what can be done with mig i have seen worse just takes a lot of time, paint biggest expense.
  24. Mike Page European Is in Kapiti Rd Paraparumu .,recently set up bisuness there . AS FOR THE 535 straight body shell would be best unless you can do repairs yourself . Even then it will cost more than its value unless you plan to use it for 3-4 years , which is what I did with my 635. Shows what happens when a guy gets c--t struck &chasing it around the world . ! less month & it could still have been put on the resto register
  25. He he i looked at that was the last bidder before you .i went down & looked at it. Major patch panels needed for rear ,new headlight /grille panel ,aligner required whole car has to be repainted ,it has rust holes in roof , headlinning ,sagged battery U/s . Estimate (including new panels by panelbeater At $4500 plus on road costs . i have mate panelbeater but would still be $2500-3000. Retail worth about $3500 $4000 fully restored . Not the sort of thing to buy on a blind . That car had been totally neglegted for years Good luck hope you got plenty of $$ ,I did my 635CSI 4years ago it wasnt as bad as that but still cost me $3000 to fix I did all the panel work & paint prep & it still cost $3000. Today its only worth $2500 I intended paying $1250 & could see you where dead set on it with auto bid to $1800
