  1. The people who dish out the fines are in charge of giving such fines too???

Even if you get the fine lifted, every single time you get fined and go get a WOF you pay the WOF price. So essentially you're still getting fined the WOF amount.

So just to be clear, your complaining about having a legally required WOF?

  2. I am unsure of whether the NZ laws are the same. I do know that the Aussies expect you to only have once licence. i.e. they take you current one and punch a hole in it to void it.

That should only happen if you are becomming a resident. Otherwise you are simply trying to abide the laws of the country your in. I have both aus and nz. Just renewed my aus licence. I told them i was no longer a resident, but that I spend time in aus every year. "No problem" was the respose.

  3. I'm from Aus and will be here in Auck for a year or two. Want to get my NZ driver's licence, which should be fairly straightforward: you don't need to do a driving test.

However you do need to do a written test, presumably on the local road rules. Can anyone tell me what sort of stuff is on the test and whether it's hard/easy or what?

    cheers,

    matt

I had to do the same thing. I just took in all the id stuff, passport and a bank statement as proof of address and winged the test. Common sense stuff with one or two odd questions thrown in. Example: What is the maximum distance any item is allowed to overhang your trailer? I think your allowed to get three wrong out of 35-40 questions.

  4. First: To all the fools who think its cool to sit around at KFC at Quay street. Get a life!

Second: To all the people who think the choices boy racers make are ok. Movies are not real life.

Third:To the boy racers who say it's ok because "I know how to handle my car". Wake up! Your not in a movie!

Forth: To the people who disagree with what I've written above. When you have a friend, have thier car cleaved in half by a boy racer (who most likely thought they knew how to control their car) killing the friend in question while driving herself home. Leaving her 9 year old daughter without a mother. You may begin to understand the anger I have.

Now I agree that kids will be kids. I spent some time living in Brisbane. The Queensland Police decided if you can't beat them, Join them! So every friday night, halfway to the Gold Coast. Legal drag racing took place. the Police called it "Operation Drag". For a fee of around $10 dollars a run. You could race your nemises or the police. The police got to know the street racer community and the street racers started to have some respect for the cops. This was, and to my knowledge, and still is a popular friday event.

To conclude: GET THEM OFF THE STREETS!!! and onto the track. unfortunitly it's here to stay so lets find a way to make it work. (last comment was the realist in me)
