  1. I have a question, do the OBC functions still work like temperature, Consumption?
  2. It was just not fully charged. The car is running normally again. Jason some sellers ensure the batteries are charged and others don't. I just hate when the sellers aren't truthful and cause you to be troubleshooting all over the place.
  3. Well turns out my battery seller lied; he said over and over that the battery was fully charged but I checked my mechanic and sure enough it was not charged fully. I have it on a charger now. Thanks for the help so far.
  4. Glenn all terminals nice and clean, I am going to check that it is properly charged. Jason the headlights work, so hopefully it is not the ignition switch. I will update later about the battery state.
  5. This is the situation. My car battery was dying and finally went last week. I got the car home but it would not start the next day. I had it parked for about 7 days; I bought a maintenance free battery today with 700 CCA. I installed it into the car and the trunk light came on the CD player started up so I thought everything is working. I then went to start the car but I was still getting the behaviour like the battery is low, a ticking is how I would describe it but no engine turn over and the dash lights kind of flicker. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what to check, possible solutions? Any help would be great at this point.
  6. SOLUTION... Glenn got a specialist to reprogram the EWS and the keys. It works now. Thanks for the help as usual.
  7. I didn't put back the scanner because I was unsure if it was causing the problem.
  8. Sounds like one way shipping. I am going to try a new battery out of my pickup and see if it will start; if not I called a BMW specialist to come look at it. I suppose the worse case scenario would be having to replace the EWS am I correct?
  9. My car is a 2002 E39 530i. I did a scan on it yesterday and while doing the scan I had it running. It seemed like all went well like always and I unplugged the scanner and turned off the car. Two hours later I decided to go home so I tried starting but it wouldn't start. I tried 3 times but the engine just wouldn't fire. I suspected the battery could be low so I removed it and put it on charge for a couple of hours. I then tried again but the same thing. I then hooked up the scanner again and checked for possible codes and got EWS anti tampering protection. I reset that code and re-tried but still nothing. I then sent for my spare key and tried and still no joy. My question is what else can I try, I am waiting on a specialist to show up but he says he has a few cars dealing with at the moment so I am on my own with for a good while it seems?
  10. I opened up mine Allan, there is no spring. It's a circuit board where the buttons are and another where the connectors plug in. If I could figure out what failed I could probably fix it maybe a circuit diagram would help.
  11. It seems like my driver window switch has died, any ideas where I can get one to buy online or how to possibly fix it? The part number is 61 31 6 909 904. I have a 2002 E39 530i.
  12. I found this when searching... For those of you who's with the E36ers and would like to know the what the HVAC codes are, check this out: HVAC Hidden Test Functions (Climate Control) - E36 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning System) of the 1996 E36 has a feature allowing different sensor values to be displayed on the control panel. To Access the Display Function: Press the "AUTO" and "REAR DEFROST" buttons simultaneously. 12 displays are available. Toggle through them by pressing the fan rocker (+ or -) switch. Number Test Function 1 Interior Temp Sensor 2 Exterior Temp Sensor 3 Left Heater Core Sensor 4 Right Heater Core Sensor 5 Evaporator Temp Sensor 6 Engine Speed Input 7 Road Speed Input 8 "Y" Factor Value 9 Fresh Air Flap Position (%) 10 AUC Sensor Voltage 11 Battery Voltage 12 Software Version To Exit the Display Function: Press the "RECIRC" and "AUTO" buttons simultaneously, or Turn off the Ignition. Note: 1. Decimal Points are not shown, Hence 75.5% is displayed as 755. 2. All Temperature displays are in ?C (Centigrade). 3. Negative values are indicated with minus sign Does this apply to the E39's as well? I am having problems with my HVAC. I don't get cold air, warm air or hot air. It was raining lastnight and I couldn't get windscreen de-misted. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.
  13. No where near to you unfortunately; I am in Jamaica. The symbol that is on is Deterioration of engine exhaust emission control values according to the manual.
  14. On another unrelated fault can the auxillary fan just fail? I don't think mine is spinning anymore.
  15. Ok Glenn I will start checking those things you have listed, thank you!
