  1. Nice tidy original looking car there.

I think the IS lip colour coded would look good if you did the bumpers too (but leave the trim on bumper black).

Well at least that's what I plan on doing with mine :).

Thanks mate. Sometimes i think it looks like there is too much white on the front end when the bumpers are also colour coded. Just my opinion haha.

  2. Hi all,

After hunting round for the last year or so for an e30, I saw that this one was up for sale and looked to be in good shape (a real credit to the previous owners). Looked at it and purchased it a week later off Will (ThreeOneEight) - Cheers!!

    Its a NZ 1990 318i Manual

    M40 engine

    226000 KM

    Electric windows/sunroof

    Rear spoiler

    14" BBS Basket Weave alloys

Spent most of today running over the car including giving it a Mother three stage polish

I am very happy with the car, and loving every minute of owning her.

A few plans i have for her:

Giving the alloys a really good clean (possibly a re-spray)

Clear indicator lenses (front and side) - anyone that can help with these parts?

    Original exhaust tip

IS Front lip (tossing up between painting it black or colour coding it to Alpine White)

Might look at some mtech or after market springs (but not a priority currently)

    New roundels

    Original rear floor matts

    Original gear knob

    Cheers - Scott

  3. TRADEME LINK - http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/cars/bmw/a...n-513315883.htm

Unfortunately i have to sell my pride and joy in order to fund my university fees for the coming year.

I purchased her off a couple just on a year and a half ago now. Really stood out being in excellent condition, NZ New and manual. I have loved owning this car and adding my personal touches to it.

    Extremely good condition for age

    SPECS:

NZ New - Full service history (all books/manuals/papers)

Has had the cooling system fixed (very common and expensive fix with the e46's)

New air flow meter - smooth acceleration

35% window tint (professionally installed by HYPER DRIVE in Penrose)

18" M3 Replica wheels (New in August last year)

Front clear indicators, and side repeaters

    Matte Black kidney grills

    2 x New tyres

    Cheers - Scott.

  4. You now have more than one problem. First you must get into the car. If you can get it open, keep a window open. If you can't you might have to choose a window to break... I can suggest which one. Then you need to repair the manual lock in the drivers door first and fix the window you might have to break. Then you need to deal with the key or GM5 control unit fault. I doubt this can all be done for for $600

It does open - just takes a while. So what would you recommend doing? Cheapest way I think is going to be getting a 2nd hand drivers lock unit and use a separate key to get into the car and the original to start the car.

  5. as per above.

The remote locking is VERY temperamental, i can stand for 15 minutes trying to get the car open.

    Have replaced battery in remote.

Must note that the lock in the door isn't usable as the plunger inside the mechanism is broken, so the only way to get into the car is via the remote unlock. Although before that happened (two weeks ago) the remote unlock was still very temperamental.

ANY help would be extremely appreciated.

    Cheers!

  6. I don't think they are 'fully' legal but you can get them in the exact font as the number plates and the same size and in reflective material so cops don't really mind too much but I would keep the original in the car just in case. Also a cheaper upgrade to a europlate :P

Looking good mate! Is that an OEM BMW colour or just a random one? And out of interest where do you get the sticker plates made up?
