  1. I'm all for texting. I definitely agree it's more of an age thing, as now I'm older and wiser and 21  I probably text less than I did when I was 14 or whatever. But in saying that it's proper convenient, especially for me to keep in contact with kids back home as I'm overseas. And there's no pissing around with the small talk that you might have in a regular call, you're pretty much forgiven for being straight to the point.

  2. nothing.

    i quit.

well, i quit as of friday.

i do [did?] work in insurance, which i abhor. but managed to have 6 months in wellington on an IT project for the company which was rad.

now, i'm leaving for england and have no idea of what i'll do when i get there. i'm hoping nothing in terms of work, but that's only if i have some sort of magical bank balance that never decreases...

    it could happen...

  3. off topic but Eek: Ride: Boeing 747-400 - april 15th... ????? huh?

um, i'll be on that plane on the 15th of April... that was me trying to be clever and have something in there to explain my extreme lack of car-ness... yea i know, i'm pretty rad

Ellie should change her ride to 'Angry cowboy'

uh... wha'? maybe i'm not having a particularly onto it day [ak to be honest, more than likely], but i don't follow...

  4. i got the email - there's probably loads of variations but this is the one i got anyways...

I understand that Scissors can beat Paper, and I get how Rock can beat Scissors, but there's no f**king way Paper can beat Rock. Paper is supposed to magically wrap around Rock rendering it immobile? Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors? Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people? Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class? I'll tell you why, BECAUSE PAPER CAN'T BEAT ANYBODY!  A rock would tear that sh*t up in 2 seconds. When I play rock/paper/scissors I always choose Rock. Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper I punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say "oh sh*t, I'm sorry I thought paper would protect you, you a**hole..."

  5. that is with them! Westpac, underwritten by lumley...i might try otherplaces, or else try insure for lower value...ellie u work in insurance? if you insure for a certain value, if you crash do you get paid that value or a book value?

depends on the type of policy you get - agreed value, premiums are generally a bit higher but you know the amount that you are insured for is the amount you'll get paid if you have a total loss, and then there's market value, where you get paid the market value of the vehicle immediately prior to the time of loss [or the amount your car is insured for, whichever is the lesser]. market value is ok provided you keep you policy up to date with the correct value, so you're not paying premiums based on an amount you're never going to get if you have a loss.

check with the company that you end up insuring with as to what kind of policy they're offering you tho... some don't do agreed value at all.

that's my understanding anyway - i don't work in claims tho

  6. if you're having trouble it's often a good idea to check out the company [or broker] that your parents insure with? some companies may consider insuring a vehicle where the driver or car doesn't fit their standard underwriting criteria as accomodation business, if your parents have all their insurances with them and are valued customers etc...

  7. maybe it's because i don't smoke, but i just can't think of one positive aspect of smoking

    is it the mouth-watering taste?

    the attractive yellow teeth?

    the inviting aroma?

    the impact on your wallet?

    the sexy image?

i mean, honestly, the logic of it all...

[well, that was a little bit passionate...]
