Personalised BMW plate for sale The plate is 1 BMW3 1. Unfortunately we no longer own a BMW so this plate isn't much use to us anymore The plate is listed over on Trade Me (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=599830944) with a reserve of $590.00 which is well below the cost of new personalised plates from plates.co.nz and there aren't any decent combinations left anyway. There is also a 3 Series key ring and a supplementary plate (in case you cover your rear plate with a bike rack etc) included in the price. We would just like it to go to someone who loves there BMW so thought this would be the best place to let people know. I hope I am not breaking any rules linking to another site. Thanks. Stephen

Hi Brent, Thanks, it's a bit more metallic than those noises I think, although difficult to tell on a video I guess. As an aside, when that guy takes his oil filler cap off, shouldn't the engine stall or at least run really rough (rougher) if his PCV valve is working OK?

Thanks Glenn, I am in CHCH, this is our first BMW and we haven't had it long so I am not sure who folks down here would recommend as a knowledgable and reasonably priced placed to get it serviced? As for the engine I believe it is an E46 N42B20. Cheers Stephen

Hi, I have tried to research this one without much luck. 2002 318i - has developed an engine rattle that seems to come from the front end of the engine. This begins when engaging first or reverse from cold start up (Auto trans). It doesn't do it when in Park. It only seems to be a problem when the engine is cold, its very obvious when leaving the garage in the morning but has dissappeared when arriving home from a trip. Its not loud enough to hear from the cabin when driving so I'm not sure how long it lasts. Anyone struck this before? Thanks for your help.

Thanks for that, good starting points. After a closer inspection, I can see where the leak is coming from, in so much as I can see where it is dripping from the bottom of the car. I don't have the gear to get right under to trace it up. I know zero about the mechanics of cars but I would describe it as exiting from roughly front centre of the engine near where the suspension arm? joins. Shouldn't be hard for a mechanic to trace. Hopefully not expensive.

Sorry it wasn't the company selling the car the car that did the inspection. It was an independant outfit that did the prepurchase inspection, not the car co. itself. That said they were referred to us by Turners.

Hi, This is my first post - we just bought our first BMW last week. Car in question is a 2002 318i (done 77k) . Bought it from Turners, it was a car they imported themselves. Agreed on price (not an Auction) and got a pre purchase inspection from the mechanic they use for that sort of thing. A couple of minor things were found which Turners agreed to pay to have fixed. 10 days later there is an obvious oil leak as there are a couple of fresh oil drops on the garage floor. Does anyone feel we have a comeback on the mechanic who did the pre purchase inspection and can anyone recommend a knowledgable BMW mechanic in CHCH that charges fair prices? Thanks for your help.
