  1. Hey foks, I am looking to get my E39s' receiver drier replaced and re-gassed/oiled. Is it still Peter at Coolcar Mankau? Any other onto it options in the Puke area?
  2. Hi folks, My 540 Msport got hurt and I am looking for a good repair shop that will understand when I say I have the aftermarket head light adjuster arms fitted and get her back to good as new. I am out in Hunua so Puke is on the cards? Thoughts?
  3. Hi Folks, I am probably about to buy a 2012 C63 (yes apologies in advance) so I am thinking about selling and wondering what she might be worth. Some of you will know how ridiculously anal I have been with this car but for those that don't know the history there are a few highlights below off the top of my head. It is either keep it for the wife or on sell. I have put so much time and love into her I would actually prefer she went to someone that was keen and able to continue to enjoy and take care of her. The car that is not the wife! I am sure I am going to have my head in the next project as I try to get a proper 540hp out of the C63 and make it go around corners so I wont be able to continue to take care of her like I should. Let me know if this might be a good fit for someone. If so I'll roll up a proper for sale thread. NZ new 130ks, almost all open road driving during my 75k stewardship. 8. Mate, seriously, there will be some people that do a very good job, any useful advice, I really don't need the banter right now.
  9. Hi folks, Any thoughts on a good crowd that knows their way around beemmas? And open tomorrow....
  10. I can't report on how it feels in the car just yet and I don't expect to as it looks like mine were all good except for #6 which was only slightly out and the clean bought back into spec. When I used to do this job in the trade I would often see a very noticeable difference in spray patterns before and after and saw many an injector stop leaking. We had an ultrasonic cleaner that pulsed and flowed at the same time.
  11. Hi all Dimitry has confirmed that he does use an ultrasound bath as part of his process. He did say that you are better to replace an injector that is suspect rather than trying to resurrect it with ultra sound. He does not have a ultrasonic bath that allows him to pulse and flow the injectors at the same time. He said that pulsing them dry is a sure way to over heat and damage them so he doesn't pulse them in the bath. Out of curiosity does anyone have an ultrasonic bath that flows and pulses the injectors at the same time?
  12. Hi guys. This is progressing well. I managed to break the crank shaft bolt with (quite) a few kicks from the starter. I used the jack to hold the 3/4" breaker bar on the bolt and a block of wood to spread the impact load onto the body. It needed about 15 hits over about 1/2 a turn before it became hand tight. It works best if you let the bar have a bit of a run up before it hits the wood. Say 10mm. See photos for more detail. With regards to tighting it back up again. Has anyone got/made a tool for holding the crankshaft on a M62 that I could borrow? - Something like this? 13. Hi all. I found some nice write ups for doing the timing chain guides and in particular timing the camshafts which is all part and parcel of what I am doing here. See attached. Note: You will need to remove the .zip extension from files named z0(x) to extract the pdfs as we are not able to upload files with unknown extensions or files over 2MB. Vanos guide replacement and timing.zip Vanos guide replacement and timing.z01.zip Vanos guide replacement and timing.z02.zip Vanos guide replacement and timing.z03.zip Vanos guide replacement and timing.z04.zip Vanos guide replacement and timing.z05.zip Vanos guide replacement and timing.z06.zip As mentioned in the docs we need to tension the chain before dialling in the VANOS with a special tool. Does anyone have access to one of these torque limiting screwdrivers that will measure to 6 in-lb (0.7NM)?
  14. Hi guys. The shipping does take the icing off, even still I couldn't stomach letting him charge me $5/injector! I do believe he is doing ultrasonic cleaning as well. I will confirm that though. Cheers Jason
  15. Hi Guys. I'm in NZ. The shipping both ways was about 70 so all up it was about 200NZ. To get the same job done here you'd be looking at $240 + GST + parts. I got these done as I thought I might as well considering I had to take them off to do all the other top end preventative maintenance I am doing at the moment. See http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/45899-e39-540i-m62-vanos-seal-replacement/?p=502877 for more details. I won't be able to really say if this has improved things as I am doing my VANOS seals at the same time. It looks like my #6 injector was a bit down on flow though. So I am glad I did it. All the best Jason
  16. Check this guy out! Salt of the earth and amazingly good value. I had to beg him to charge me $10 per injector including ultrasonic cleaning, replacing pintal caps, O-Rings and filters... He was only going to charge me $5!!! http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=7883530&postcount=15
  17. The tools arrived. I thought I would share a pic.

    vanos seal DIY

Hi there. Yes you need to get the cams spot on other wise you will get a vanos out of alignment error. You can hire these tools for $140 including shipping and GST in NZ. I have just bought the complete set direct from HCB and also bought the vanos press and special picks from Raj at Besein all for roughly $400 landed all up which was a steal but still a lot for one job... I'd be happy to hire them out to discerning and skilled operators to help pay for the outlay... After I have finished mine that is! (Working on it now) Note: These are for the MT62 V8 not the 6er. See attached photo. All the best Jason
  19. I just had the word from Raj at Beisan Systems that they will do a buy 3 get one free deal on the VANOS seal kits. Let me know if anyone is interested. All the best Jason
  20. Thanks Ray. I did call them and the hire charge was $140 including GST for 3 days. However I just scored a great deal deal direct from the manufacture in Taiwan by using a US IP on ebay to search for the item and they then matched the price. Good trick as prices are often better from US only resellers and shipping is way cheaper from Taiwan than the US. I have still bought a 400 dollar tool kit for one job so I would be more than willing to hire this out to club members to help recoup the cost so long as you know what you are doing! This is the tool. Don't worry I got it for less than that. http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M62-SECONDARY-...2-/261212822501 This is the procedure for the 540s. http://www.beisansystems.com/procedures/m6...s_procedure.htm I am also getting the VANOS press kit made by Raj at Beisan Systems (Good dude) http://www.beisansystems.com/images/bs097_large.jpg Let me know if any one else it keen to restore the VANOS on their 540s. All the best Jason
  21. Hello everyone. Having completely rebuilt the suspension on my e39 540 M-Sport with truly wonderful results I now turning my attention to the engine. It has only done 88ks but I wan't to tick off all the usual issues including VANOS seals pre-emptively. Does anyone have an M60/M62 Camshaft Alignment VANOS Timing Tool Kit that I could hire? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M60-M62-9-pc-M...31e&vxp=mtr I worked for a number of years as a mechanic at Turbo Vehicles and Rotary Engine Specialists and ran my own workshop for a while so don't worry it will come back in perfect order! This is what I am planning to do BTW if anyone is interested: Valve covers inc. powder coating Spark plug boots (already done the plugs) Valley pan OSV CCV All water hoses front and back Expansion tank Radiator Thermostat Water pump Belts Ultrasonic injector clean inc. fuel filter Timing chain guides inc. all chains and tensioner + every associated gasket and rubber seal or grommet Kind regards Jason
  22. Hi guys. I have just replaced every thing that moves in the suspension at both end of my NZ new E39 540i M-Sport II which some of you will know is in rather ridiculously good condition especially as I keep on replacing things that were perfectly OK. Call me obsessive... :/ These are all the suspension components having done only 88,000 ks. I have just replaced all the arms and ball joints front and rear with all Lemfoerder components. Unfortunately the boots were damaged when removing the front lower control arms and rear upper control arms. Everything still feels sound as. I'm sure they will improve someone's ride. Bimmersporters only. Pick up and say hello, please don't ask me to ship. The new stuff cost $1200... $50 for the lot. All the best Jason
  23. FYI. Just sent these back to source. They ended up paying for the shipping so I had to do it. All the best Jason
