Hi, 2000 E39, Had the message up for a couple of weeks now, got the garage to check it out during the service and they said the pads are fine but one of the sensors looks like the wire might have broken or be damaged, he did say that he replaced 2 on a car he had once & it didnt clear the warning though. Question is, if I simply cut the "broken looking wire" & join it should it clear the warning & prove the fault? Im guessing the other 3 sensors will still warn if the pads are low, the warning does come and go so it obviously doent need to be reset. Im "keen" to identify the fault rather than just throw new sensors at it, they quoted about $100 each.

oK, well thanks for that, opinions & info are why im on here, tyres are on now & I obv cant take them back based on forum posts, that said I wont be throwing the invoice out & im no stranger to the small claims court & consumer rights when it come to "fit for purpose & use" so will see how we go. I do believe that something as serious as side wall failure occurring even to one guy is one to many and if the ratings are not reliable or true I find it worrying that the industry is not regulated to prevent this. They came from a goodyear tyre centre & I didnt ask for the cheapest just told them the size, the guy assured me hes sold heaps & had no complaints or bring backs, maybe Ill be the first!! I dont drive hard often, 85% of my use it to & from work just cruising along, the few times ive turned the DTC off to get a feel for the car the wheels have just let go without any hesitation, when on very rarely does it cut in even when Im pushing it & I would never dream of driving in the wet with it off as the wheels will clearly just spin with the power of the car regardless of the tyre. Im not 18 or stupid so not looking to "race" or drift the back roads, I dont track race or Autox (whatever that is) so I dont see the value in me fitting top spec tyres just because I have a motorsport badge on my car. I am disappointed to hear the bad reviews & I will be looking at the wear & checking the side walls regularly but I brought them in good faith from a reputable tyre suppler and if they are not suitable I will have no problem with going back to them for a refund or exchange. finally, garage found play in both lower rear bushes so will be getting them replaced asap, out of interest they said about $500 for both is that about right / could I do the job myself without a bucket full of special tools & knowledge? Thanks for the heads up & warning.

Sorry 255/40 fitted not 35s Thanks for the replys, dont think many people would consider Dunlop dezzeras "rubbish tyres" but I have no idea how old they are & they where pretty much bald so wouldnt rule out tyre failure. The cars in for a service today so asked them to check the rear set up & if it all looks ok Ill get an alignment check done. Got the new tyres yest, went for Achilles ATR sports, not a big/known/mainstream brand but at $180 fitted they sure are good value, closest other quote I could get was $260 for Dunlop sport max. the Achilles are 99r rated so that should rule out under rated tyres also. Did a google first an lots of good comments on achilles, this one sold me from a Oz bmw e90 forum; http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=541503 Thanks again for the posts.

Running Dunlop Alzzeras (?) front & rear so would have thought they are not the issue but they are almost finished so maybe theyve just had enough, very strange to look at though just like they have rubbed on something. Will see if I can get the alighnment & camber checked when I get the tyres done this week. Cheers.

Hi, Noticed the inner edges of my rear tyres have rubbed out to canvas right on the edges, not like you get when the camber or the trackings out but like they have been touching something, the wear is about the size & shape of youe thumb nail at 45' to the edge / corner. Car is a 2000 530 motorsport, all stock, 17" 255/35/17 not lowered etc. Only thing I can see that might be in the right place to cause it is the bottom of the shock spring coil assembly but I thought the shock moved up with the wheel and its miles away when parked up. its the same on both tyres, I have heard a scuffing when I drive at speed through a dip in the road but thought this was the outside on the arch as they are quite close. Any ideas before I replace the tyres & bugger the new ones? Cheers.

So, just brought a Bel STI Driver of ebay USA using a new freight forward company called Prezoom to get it sent here as sellar only offers US shipping. As new, in the case, with both cables, external speaker, screen mount, manuals etc for a mighty $300nzd!! postage should be about $35 on top of that but no Duty or GST as its below the minimum value. Very interested in the mirror / visor mounting options, I understand the wiring into the sun roof but how are you guys mounting them up there, just with suction cups or special mounts? - 2000 e39 530.

Borrowed a bel sti of a mate for a couple of days, he swears by it and said he put it & 4 others in the same car and drove round chch cop hunting and the bel & V1 were the only ones that shined!, recon's the only real dif between them is that the V1 tells you the direction. see how we go,,,

just to jump back a bit, thinking of purchasing a detector at the moment also but for those of us who cant / don't want to spend $500+ are there any others that are worth getting? Obviously the two best ones have been well and truly covered but what about the cheaper units on the market, recently read a reveiw of under $300 units saying the escort x50 and a beltronics model I cant recall where well worth buying, anyone running a <$300 detector? I really want to know the car on the horizon is a cop in time to check my speed & slow if required.

"If the op has them made into or the red font of message plate then he can on-sell them' What the *@%+? search engines say the plates are standard, does that mean no?, only lived here 3years and never delbt with private plates before. Cheers.

Hi, Thinking of selling my plates, ANZ525 Great if you work for ANZ bank and have a 525 or just to state that its "A New Zealand" 525 etc etc. What might they be worth?, or make an offer. Cheers.

Both sound like jobs for the hoist to me, only just got a WOf but unless they tried to spin the wheels in the shop they prob wouldnt have known!! Will get it looked at this week.

Thanks all, 12v+ to ground from the terminals, Much bigger than my amp cable & will fuse the amp cable 2/3" from connection. Would be very supprised if such a large cable was just there for fun and "not feeding really anything" Only other question is, Why does this terminal assembly appear to have a red cable bolted to a connection plate which has a black cable on the other side, I always assumed black was negative or ground on most systems?

HI, Im getting a thumping / wobbling type bumping noise & feel from the rear when I pull away even mildly hard. Any ideas what to check before I donate $'s to the local garage to do it for me?, things to know are, 1990 525i E34, Tyres are good, Wheels are balanced, 4 wheel alignment was done & no change, running 18" BBS rims. No other signs or probs when driving, seems to come more from the passenger side, cheers,

Looking to fit a fusion base tube in my 525 E34 and can run the RCA's & remote through the cabin but how the hell can I get a power cable from the battery in the front to the boot! Found a large cable / terminal under the back seat on the drivers side, could I hook into this or might this cause things to go bang!!
