  1. i could not get bmwscanner to work with my 1998 e39 528i, i purchased bmwscanner 1.4 and soldered pins 7and 8 together and now can scan my bmw no problems alot of stuff has no explination though and very little instructions on these scanners but they work as stated
  2. yea i have read this and have a native com port on my desktop aswell as tried the usb to rs232 both showed up and installed properly can select either in the com port listing and it shows the usb as prolific rs232 which is the brand of cable, but yes i have no instructions for this device like do i need the key in the ignition and what position and some people saying should plug the cable into pc and start software then plug into car? anyone have a decent set of instructions to follow maybee i can see where i am going wrong i would like to try an program a used cluster myne the speedo needle sticks in some spots from trying to repair the pixels dont touch the things thats what i learnt it worked for about a week then clusters started fading again
  3. i have bmw scanner 1.3.6 and cant get it to work its the rs232 version not usb although i have a usb to rs232 cable also, i have an issue my speedo is very jerky appears to be correct but isnt smooth in showing speed and like sticks when you slow down and takes a while to come to correct position, the unit has been opened so i presume someone has tried to fix the pixels, anyway i wanna program a 2nd hand cluster to go in and the software is aparently able to do it vin and odometer reading, and anyone know of a cheap e39 1998 528i auto cluster?
