Bought this from a member on here for my 325 but sold the car before I got around to fitting it. Came off an e36 M3, when I say short shifter I mean standard from an M3 which is shorter throw for any other e36 When I was reseraching fitting it I went off and bought new parts to go with it which I have no idea what they are now, Part numbers 11-53-1-265-084 (a 65mm o-ring) , 25-11-1-220-439/9 ("Shim" written on label and there are 4 in the packet) and 25-11-1-469-397/92 ("shift tower bushing" written on label) $80 plus $7 nationwide tracked postage if required, or collection from Christchurch Central. Thanks. Not much of an update, but for ages I thought I was missing a bit of trim from the back seat, turns out it's just a place to store the centre lap belt out of the way if you're not using it, which is quite neat.

I had to take out the back windows which I now realise I made into a much bigger job than it actually is. The first window I did I took out all the interior trims around the window and took off the C pillar trim to take off the catch from there. The second window I realised I could leave on the C pillar trim and there is an allen key head stud going through the catch at the back of the glass. After doing all that I now realise all you need to do is take out that stud, take off the B pillar trim and seatbelt housing to get at the 2 bolts fixing the front of the glass, and you can leave all the interior trims around the window in place. For the metal exterior trim I just sanded back the rust and painted it black, and for the plastics I had picked up better ones from a scrapyard which I stuck on with foam double sided tape. One good tip for if you haven't anyone to help, just tape up the outside housing of that stud on the back of the glass so you can open it from the inside without it spinning. It is still noticeable if you look reasonably closely at it but it doesn't catch your eye like it did before, I'm happy with how it came out anyway.

Next update on this, there was rust on a metal trim part and a hard plastic trim had gone brittle and flaking away at the corner of the back (pop out) windows. Photos probably describe it better

Ok thanks for the help, will get an auto sparky to look at it

I don't follow, what would cause that? More importantly any idea what would fix it?

I have an e36 with analogue heater and the blower resistor went a few months ago so I only had heat on power 4. I bought a new one a month ago and it worked but since a few days ago the heater is again only working on power 4. Just wondering before I go asking for a refund is there anything else I should check first? Thanks

Next up, armrest, fantastic addition. To fit it you have to cut away some of the carpet on the centre tunnel and also get new washers and longer bolts, I used M8x30mm bolts. I cut away a strip of carpet on the left to find the place to put the bolt and also to let the housing sit in. I switched the connection at the end of the earth wire to the other side of the handbrake because it gets in the way of the housing. A guide I read said to open the handrake cable adjusters but instead I used a slightly smaller washer on the back bolt and put it in first with a small bit of blu-tac to hold the washer up at the head of the bolt, then cut a bit extra carpet off from behind the handbrake. I didn't take a photo of it but the hole in the housing for the back bolt is slotted and is bigger at one end, so you can drop it over the installed back bolt and then slide it into position and put in the front two bolts. thanks for the replies, I had the rearvier mirror off before and definitely no wires going in to it. There was a little red bulb in one of the blanks infront of the gearstick but it wasn't connected to anything. I must have a look tomorrow if there are movement sensors at the top of the A pillars. I think it is very unlikey it has the remote central locking really. I think I can still get a blank key with a light though?

Hi all, I have a 1993 e36 which only came with one key which I think is the spare. The car has central locking, how would I know if it also has remote central locking? This is the key I have, thanks

I have been making a list of other things for a while and finally got enough to make it worthwhile to put in an order with pelican parts. So I have a box of stuff waiting to go in now. The first thing I did was change the blower resistor, so the heater now works on all settings again, which is nice. More to come

I finally got everything to finish off the front end anyway, and most of the rear. Washing the car a few months ago the face came off of the rear emblem, so I got new ones in black. Also I never liked how the front number plate was smaller than the recess in the bumper so I got a NZ plate recently. And finally the smoked front indicators and smoked side repeaters. It was getting dark when I took the photos by they are good enough for now anyway. [

Arrived today and very happy with them, thanks Andy -
Hello all, I have an e36 325 coupe which broke down yesterday. I towed it to a garage and found out today that moisture had gotten into the ECU resulting in corrosion over time. I'm researching it at the moment but came across this pelican technical article and wondering if anyone has had success with swapping in a Bosch Motronic, or if there is anything to be gained over the $750 to replace the ECU. Thanks very much Qube. I have one more of those 'happens to every e36' things to fix but my next update will be an aesthetics one

drivers side headlight, perfect working order except the housing to hold in the indicator is broken off. It was on my car with the indicator tied on with some wire and went through wof no problem. $80 Sunroof switch, not sure if this would work for a window too, $20 Electric and heater passenger side mirror, comes with non-heated mirror glass, $50 Fuel cap $10 fuel cap lock motor, $10 Indicators for a sedan. These were clear and I split them with a heat gun, painted the inside black and resealed them with silicone. I heated the locating pin on one of them by accident, I moved it back again but it may need to be heated to line it up. $50 All parts located in central christchurch, $5 for postage

No there is not much left, I think the back lights are on it and theres a good spoiler on the boot lid but it's crashed at the front end so theres nothing there. The dash instrumentation and most of the centre console are gone too.

Thanks Miles, ya I'l probably head along to the next Christchurch meet alright. A small update this time, the mats in my car are the wrong colour and have a hole in the drivers one so I saw pickapart had an e36 coupe in and I got these off it, the set for $16! I cleaned them up a bit and they are a perfect match with the carpet
