  1. Im just starting on the Journey of a E30 300hp to 400hp transplant

Like you I also prefer to remain non Turbo (even though im tempted as Hybrid could tell you :) )

I have a S50b30 which I will be picking up next week or so . Target HP will be low 300hp at a stretch 350hp.

With the low weight of the E30 it will be a weapon

But my focus once I have fitted the engine and drive train will be how the car can handle this additional Power

    Gearbox will be native M3

Diff = Medium case E30 LSD

Steering Rack = Z3 (still researching)

Suspension = Adjustable platforms (there are many options here (Big money) )

    Brakes= Brembo? Willwood? ytd

    wheels???

exhaust system????? custom made, not cheap

S50b30 is probably the best option to get above 300hp for a E30 but it will cost you a lot more than 10k

    Give me a call mate

I can can give you some realistic options

  2. I think you will need to have a major rethink on that budget.

300hp? ya well then the best option will be a s50b30

But that will cost you closer to 20k

    Let me explain.....

A e30 was never designed for that HP.

If you want 300+ hp then you need to think about a whole lot of other things

    The drive train

    The brakes

    The suspension

Plus a million little things to transplant (ask Hybrid)

Otherwise it will only be a car that can go fast in a straight line and then OMG......

If I were you id build a nice M20b25 manual with a nice cam good brakes and suspension. A nice balanced package. Maybe a stroker engine (m20b27)

    But 300 hp? no way....

  3. I dont like the sound of it being over filled by 2 litres of oil. Id make sure that the manifold is clean an that the injectors are clean. Overfilled engines can blow the oil back thru the entire system and cause all sorts of issues.

Ive seen the mess that overfilled oil can cause. Check that out and make sure that isent the cause.

  4. I've decided to put this in the general discussion page as I get the feeling it would be very beneficial to alot of e30, e34 owners

I was ripped off from a bloke on trade me who decided to sell me a full manual conversion kit for a m20b20. He decided to be clever <_< and take advantage of my trusting good nature (albeit naive) and not bother to send the matching driveshaft. So here I am many weeks later still trying to get one to fit. I was once very hopeful as I assumed they should be quite interchangeable, I might be able to use one from a 325i or alter a 318i one... But alas it seems very hard to find one at all and I would need some appropriate sizes to start with.

My question is: what would be the best way of getting a driveshaft to fit an M20B20? Would it be cost affective altering a longer shaft? Will e34 shafts be longer? What are the sizes?

I've been racking my brains for a while trying to figure out the best solution.. I thought I might be able to get one slightly longer and have it altered or I might be able to put extra guibos on to lengthen it. I've been digging and digging all over the world wide web for something that stands out and can sort my problems but there doesn't seem to be a lot of information regarding the matter. It's either I have to find the exact part (which is as rare as hens teeth) or I'm stuck.

    For the record I have an 1988 E30 M20B20 with a getrag 240 box.

Hopefully this information can be looks upon by someone else who is in the same pickle.

    Cheers

I have 2. But i have to warn you now. It wont be cheap

    PM me

  5. Would prefer it was complete with the 2x sensors but will take a bare one too.

This is the part that bolts to the head, with four coolant flanges, 2x sensors and a couple of bolt plugs in it.

    Same part on FL m20b20 or m20b25 - oem part number 115 317 304 70

A price couriered to Tauranga please.

    Hi I have 1 . 2nd hand
