  1. Here's the facebook event, then you just book on their website.

    https://www.facebook.com/events/197070257140992/

Not a gymkhana though, is just a drift day.

This is the closest to a decent video I managed to get from my runs haha,

always put too much power down coming in and would end up like this, which is why I ended up spinning the clutch. . .

got another couple GoPro videos which I haven't gotten round to putting up yet, one of which includes me spinning the wheels down the straight in 4th (it was wet though)

  2. I always found myself wanting to be in slightly higher than 2nd in the 2.5 as I was coming through the corners. But it could hold itself on the spot foot down with no brakes without a problem haha. Another half of the problem is that I'm not and don't claim to be a remotely good drifter, was more just to give it a go.

My mate on the other hand, would be doing at least 100+km/h down the meremere straight snaking the whole way lock to lock.

The photographer still managed to get some awesome photos of me haha.

  3. If you want a real good job done and it done properly go to Wades Collision repair down Northway I believe it is (off te rapa straight).

If you want a cheaper job done where they spray just over the top then Quay West down Lake road. My mate uses them all the time and they seem to be decent for what they charge.

  4. Quick question...what fuel you using?

I put the Cobb Stage 1 Aggressive on yesterday and performance is awesome. Big diff. Worried about fuel and timing corrections now with boost getting up to 18psi at start of WOT. Will data log and send to Cobb - think it's all ok and can't hear anything bad...but need to make sure I'm on best fuel. There's a lot of miss info on what to use...BP Ultimate is only MAX 98 whereas Gull F10 is better and is it E85...bit confusing...do you (or anyone else) know what's what here?

The F10 is an E10 98 octane fuel (so 10% Ethanol and 90% Petroleum)

I believe that still the only place you can get E85 at pump in NZ is in Hamilton and is the Force Pro.

  5. My first car ever (which my parents bought me for $1200 from a guy we know at Fairview Motors)

1990 Mazda 626 liftback, awesome little car especially for the price, except when it developed a vacuum leak and would die whenever I put the clutch in.

First car I ever bought myself 1 and a half years later which cost me $5500 and I later sold for $7500.

1996 BMW 323i M-Tech (NZ New German model in manual) on Style 65s

  6. Sounds like a lot of whinging because he didn't look at it and is feeling ripped off.

I want to see the rest of the list as what's there is not really that bad or unfixable, worst thing is those engine mount bolts.

Granted Id be annoyed finding these things too but I wouldn't blame the people who imported it and complied it unless I was first owner in the country. I would curse the previous owners but would get over myself and fix it rather than seek a court case on something he should've picked up on before buying.

  7. Yesterday I painted the valve cover with wrinkle black paint, 5 coats of the stuff later it came out awesome. Sanded off the BMW and all that on top today, looking awesome, quite proud of this especially being my first time spray painting anything. Not done with the sanding as of yet in this pic but get the idea of it.

  8. i have had good experience with VHT wrinkle finish black and red, goes very hard and wears well.

only downside is you need a little heat to help it wrinkle properly and it takes a while to dry, i used a heat bulb over mine for 24 hours last time, i did it in winter so took a while, then you just put it back on the engine carefully and use engine heat to finish the cure.

doesnt need primer, can buy it from supercheapauto, they have to order it in (they may not be aware but ask them to search "wrinkle" in their parts ordering system and they will find it. from memory its somewhere around $18 to $20 a can, one can did both my rocker covers on a 740i v8.

so cliff notes, powder coating is faster but wrinkle paint is much cheaper.

I've since posting this ordered myself in the wrinkle black (working at supercheap made it easier), ordered 2 cans but don't mind having spare as I know of plenty of people who would be keen on using some too. Will hopefully be painting them this coming week, sort of want to get my engine back together first but am waiting on the ehad gasket to get here from Germany.

Cheers for the response though and good to hear it works well.

  9. I believe I've seen the Castrol Edge Titanium 5W-30 at Coombes Johnston before. That's what I used in my old M52 and never had problems. This is what I'd be using personally. That or I'm pretty sure Penrite to a BMW approved 5w-30 (5W-40 marked but it's used in places where 5W-30 is used) HPR 5 I believe it is.
