Spot on. I confirmed it with a friend who use to do installs. Using a harness I bought of trademe was the best way to go. I just had to hook up the blue from the harness to the blue/white from the h/u and boom. She's all go running off the factory amp. No other messing around. Actually a simple install. Just need to get a fascia and mount my iPod, run my sub RCA and I'm done. Thanks for the advice.

Ok so an update for all. And more head scratching I took the advice of above and got a loom to use instead of cut and solder. It works ! Well kinda..... I plug it in and I get radio working perfectly straight off the bat. But my cd, iPod and aux cable don't produce and sound thru the speakers. I know all 3 are working fine as the h/u just came out of my old car 10 mins ago. This is just soooo weird. Why would one work and not the others. Thoughts ?? Also there is a spare cable that come from the stock h/u that says amp.. What should I do with this. Or what does it actually do. Is it just the remote power to turn the amp off ?

That was my original thought. Any ideas on where I can pick up a cheap surround to finish off the install.

Its not so, much old school, its just not s full length bmw head deck, was the best way to explain lol, well at least imo. Its Just ur average head deck you get, like in any old car like a Honda or a Toyota.. Standard head deck like a Sony xplod. Ya with me now ?

Hey guys, I'm sure this has been covered before, I had a look but couldn't find what I was looking for. I want to put my Panasonic single din head deck + Panasonic Amp & 2x JVC subs into my new 97 528i with minimal fuss, can I get a wiring loom adapter or I do cut and then re-wire it ? Are there any guides with photos on how to get the dash apart and do the install, I could figure it out but I don't wanna risk breaking anything, Are there any tricky things I need to know? Besides needing a faceplate adapter to cover the extra space.

Mines a 97 but yeah I can't see any auto feature anywhere to do with lights. The confusing part is the on off for my clown nose. Can't figure out what it does lol. And I haven't seen the night rearview mirror do its thing either. But haven't tested with high beam shining on it. And as for my side mirrors they are a blue colour which seems odd.

Hey, You were spot on with the rain sensor. I flicked it to intermittent and sprayed with the hose and BINGO ! It worked. But my dash/lights cluster don't have an A on them so not sure if I have the light sensor or how to use it The rearview mirror oil is still intact but it hasn't dimmed yet, unless it's doing it without me knowing lol. There is an on off position on my clown nose but nothing changes when I turn it off vs being on. Unless it only works if high beams are shining on it. I haven't been able to test it with high beams yet.... Massive thanks for the info on the rain sensor. The previous owner didn't even know that feature was on the car. This makes my purchase even better value Thanks

Hey guys, I'm an old member from about 4-5 years ago. My old BMW died....... I then made the mistake of going to a VW. That's just sold and im back in the BMW family again I couldn't find my old login so made a new one, but some of you might remember me from my not so sexy purple 318TI lol and being in the 36Mafia club. Well now im in a 97 528I and loving it. Nothing quite like driving a BMW again. Ill be putting my [A N R K E] Plates back on this new car soon and then i can start modding it a bit, Ive also just posted up a few photos in the electrical section regarding some new and unknown sensors i have on the car that i cant seem to get to work or ID. so if you can, please take a look. Hey, Ive just upgraded to a 1997 528i and there are a few sensors on the rear-view mirror and the windscreent that are forgein to me, they look like light or rain sensors but either they dont work or i cant find the buttons to turn them on lol. Please help me ID what they are and how to use them. Thanks.
