  1. Yeah I thought someone on here might want to snap it up for a run-a-bout or a conversion job needing a straight body. Wonder what sort of condition the auto is in... Edit: Images resized for those of you not running a 50'' screen (lol).
  2. No idea, cant access Trademe at work to check it. Christchurch.
  3. Just saw this on the intranet here at work, I don't know the seller or the car but looks like a damn good price for a straight car! (Especially if you were to drop a M52B28 in it tehehe) "I have a (NZ new) 1985 2 door BMW 318IA (1800 cc)....now surplus to requirements. ....comes with new tyres...sunroof...original paint...original tool kit and much much more. Good condition inside and out....rego expires end Feb. 2011 $1350/with new WOF" Contact is listed as: charles.Hawes(at)cdhb(dot)govt(dot)nz Carjam: http://www.carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=cgm897 Note: tell me if it's not longer available and I'll delete the post!
  4. Ah my Grandmothers E36 does this from time to time actually. You might also find that when driving it isn't going into the correct gear? Not sure how they're setup but maybe the shifter / contacts are just out of alignment?
  5. Probably not that out of line, maybe a little worse.
  6. Quick question time! Over the last wee while my m52b28 has started blowing black smoke on heavy accel, esp when it's cold and lacking some torque / power. I've plugged in my carsoft / INPA cable and checked for O2 sensor errors but there is nothing? The exhaust pipe is black and sooty. Do you think this could still be the O2 sensor causing the car to run rich? -If so, should I just unplug my pre-cat sensor and drive it for a few days to see if there is any change? (please ignore adaption values, I mistakenly cleared them before taking the screenshot)
  7. Try out the tool Ross made for re-coding your GM. http://www.bminfo.co.nz/?page_id=31
  8. Ah didn't need help anyway. Typical Peugeot owner... Actually, I lie, I converted my bimmer to run on steam.
  9. LOL - yes, no, didn't bleed coolant system properly, heated up when I turned the heater on as I forgot to do this in the process, thought I got it all out then but just got hot again while out getting lunch so will have another go up on a jack tonight.
  10. Right well it's all back together! Took me from 9AM -> 6PM including picking up parts. I managed to do the whole thing myself, made sure I took note of where everything went etc... was pretty easy to figure out actually! The M50 intake had been pretty badly installed, lots of the hosing was collapsing in on itself as he didn't use material that could handle the vacuum pressure. Replacing the taps proved to be really, really easy! I had to remove the windscreen wipers and all the removable parts at the top of the firewall that the wiring box attaches onto. While I had the injectors out I thought it'd be a good time to replace the pintle-caps and o-rings, I managed to get these from 'Vantage Automotive (377, 9650)' as Jeff Gray BMW told me you had to replace the whole units at $300 an injector!. The car is going much /much/ better, idles smoother, has more torque down low, sounds better!
  11. This sounds familiar! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/101-project...ng-ccv-pcv.html " Replacing CCV or PCV 96-328I...loss of low end torque, oil consumption very high...Need "How To" replace crankcase vent valve...."
  12. OK got a replacement CCV. Also, those heater pipes look pretty damn easy! It's one whole complete unit of the 3 pipes that bolt back into the firewall. I'll have to try and take some time off work and nudge the dead beast into the garage and start pulling things to bits. I'll label everything so hopefully I don't have (m)any issues putting it back together.
  13. Really? The idle as well? interesting... OK I'll pop down to Eurowrec at lunch and grab a replacement CCV I'll also ask them about taps...
  14. I'm hoping to get my manifold off tomorrow evening and I'll draw a diagram / photograph it and let you know. When I had a look last night (as best I could with a torch!) I could see it was looking quite oily under the manifold around the CCV etc...
  15. Yeah there are a few pics of the hosing setup you can buy but it's not much help as mine seems to be setup pretty differently (maybe not in direction but where things are) it's a bit over my head TBH. Ah, how hard is it to install those? Do they screw in or what? Cheers Glenn - you're the man.
  16. Not a performance issue, I'm pretty sure the piping is setup incorrectly and sucking oil off the crank case / somewhere else.
  17. I posted this in maintenance but haven found anyone in CHCH so I thought I'd try my luck here: I'm having a few issues with my M50 intake conversion on my 96' 328i that I'm pretty sure wasn't setup correctly. Anyone in CHCH that's pretty good with the E36 intake / vacuum system able to take a look for me? The other issue is I have is a water / heating tap has broken off inside a hose and will need a new one installed / re-tapped. -> http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=31533 Happy to pay $$ or buy beers / I'm a computer technician so could trade you some computer servicing / skills and I have a full working GT1 / DIS computer that I can connect up to your OBDI/II car for diagnostics / software update.
  18. [Christchurch] I'm having a few issues with my M50 intake conversion on my 96' 328i. Anyone here pretty good with the E36 intake / vacuum system able to take a look for me? The other issue is I have is a water / heating tap has broken off inside a hose and will need a new one installed / re-tapped. -> http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=31533 Can do beers / some $$ for you time Also I'm a computer technician so could trade you some computer servicing / skills and I have a full working GT1 / DIS computer that I can connect up to your OBDI/II car for diagnostics / software update.
  19. Thanks for the advice! Anyone out there in bimmersport land living in CHCH that would give me a hand with this? Happy to pay / buy some beers etc... Edit: re-posted here: http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....t=0#entry362730
  20. Yikes, I'm OK with re-tapping but don't have a set (that large) and I'd have to pull off the whole intake manifold. Since I'm looking to get this fixed quickly it might be best to take it to someone that can have it for a day or two. Problem is, who's cheap and reliable in CHCH? I don't trust half the buggers here! In the mean time, motorbiking to work isn't such a bad thing.
  21. I'm a bit stuck as to what to do here... I have a 96' 328i Coupe (Which I'm selling) and after arriving at my destination last night, I noticed a bit of steam from the bonnet, upon inspection a hose had come off near the heater control valves at the side that plugs into the tap on the firewall. Today I had a proper look and the tap has broken off inside the hose! What on earth do I do - there is no way I can attach the hose back on until the tap is replaced. I have the M50 intake manifold installed which makes it even harder to get to the taps. -Is this easy? -If not, can you recommend anyone affordable in Christchurch that could fix it / give me a quote?
  22. Hi, Nope, no need to be local these days with the Internet. It was done by the owner and creator of ecuconnections.
  23. HUGE difference up top especially after the ecu was tuned.
  24. Well, I need to on-sell my 328 manual coupe to pay some bills and go on a holiday. Beast of a car, M50 intake, chipped / tuned etc... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=308917167 Location: Christchurch
  25. Uploaded the more aggressive tune to my chip tonight... (+8 deg ign timing) It's so, damn, good! In fact, there was a much bigger difference between tune 1 and tune 2 than there was from stock to tune 1! I still have the problem with the car holding rev's between gears. It's pretty impressive now, all I need is a 3.something LSD. (And maybe to remove the cats?)
