is your engine M10? or M40, looks like M10 to me i was thinking of just putting a pod filter before the AFM and leaving the stock plastic tube going to the manifold instead of putting "bling bling" chrome coated aluminum pipe in theory it should give u another 5 hp or so compared to the stock rectangle air filter unit sitting in the plastic resonator box. But u might be taking in more of the less denser air (hot air) into the intake chamber. . yours isnt really cold air intake dude, cold intake is the one that goes down and sits lower in the engine closer to the front bumper brake cooling ducts The longer the pipe, the more torque it gives u, the shorter the intake, more power gain its all to do with the vacuum and the velocity of the charge. Nice effort though :thumb:

did u get that 325i motorsport u wanted or something?

Thats the M20 "ETA" engine or the economy engine, not many ppl got that here plus they are minor defects compared to other Manufacturers like Ford with their explorers

Depends on what wheels u got, if u got the "Bottlecaps", its 14 X 6, 4x100 35mm positive offset the "basketweavers" are like 14 x 6.5 probably, 30 or 35mm offset i could be wrong dont get 17s for your E30s, in my opinion they dont offer any performance advantages and like dont really suit the E30 suspension/guards get like nice bbs rims, possibly 15/16s

there is tendency for ppl to think turbo = lag thats NOT true if u put a relatively small turbo on a big engine, u will have decent boost as low as 2000rpm. Also sequential turbos implement the same principle to create a wider torque band by having one small turbine and one larger turbine. U can programme the ECU to flood your injectors with fuel into the combustion chamber without any ignition, "pre spooling" between gear shifts, turbo life expectancy will be shortended though. Turbo creates backpressure for exhaust gas, so off boost same engine spec without turbo will ALWAYS have more power/torque. Hence u can run a 4 inch exhaust pipe on a turbo engined car without a hassle. Root type superchargers are just as good as smaller turbos. Centrifugal or whatever they called are more efficient superchargers, but they possess so called "lag" but make up for it up the top of rev range. I prefer turbos, because there are far more parts (Garrett, Mitsubishi, IHI, KKK) available and proven setups If u wanna be different, get a supercharger

Its 10+ year old car, u wont find any car on the road that hasnt got something worn out/broken/faulty. If u gonna do the repairs yourself, go ask for a quote for parts from a BMW parts supplier. Also u might be able to get some bits off 2nd hand try SD European (Hamilton) or that parts place in Manukau (European Connection i think its called) OR Go to a mechanic and ask for a quote. I would recommend Gavin (Bellar Motor Works) or Ernest(Bavarian Motors). They both know their E30s well. Theres another good mechanic place in Kingsland I heard that do BMWs. The car has high km, so it will need a cambelt if it hasnt been replaced

Do u constantly have to top up the coolant? If the coolant is pissing everywhere, could be the waterpump Could be a cracked hose if there is a smaller leak could be stuffed cooling fan, thermostat, guage maybe be stuffed?

I was reading a manual for E30s and it says all BMWs use 13/16 inch (21mm) socket for bmws. But like my spark plugs use 16mm socket, and i dont think 21mm socket is for small cars, cuz the socket is for really big spark plugs. Do u guys think this was a typo in the manual?

cant u just replace them with normal philips screws? chances are u can get the torx screws from any bmw parts place u can like buy those screw driver socket sets for cheap from tool stores

0W bit indicates a lower pouring point. The lower the pouring point, the quicker oil reaches adequate pressure. The thickness of the oil will still be similar to say a 5W oil. Purple Blue is this American oil company. Some dude worked for an oil company and then decided to start up his own oil product range. Chances are its just some other brand rebranded with a "Purple Blue" sticker. In my opinion, its impossible to say this oil is good or bad unless u can like put your engine on a dyno and do some hardcore analysis. But I just trust a brand like Castrol far more than others. Using something like 20W50 is recommended for cars PRE 1985 anyway. But if your engine is like 200,000km on the clock, might as well go for thicker oil or do a rebuild

Mineral oil is good for really old cars and I mean "old" that need really thick oil or they will simply will run dry quickly. E30s are not that old compared to some cars around. Synthetic oils offer far superior performance compared to Minerals. Most of the damage is done to the engine during start up and short driving. Thats where the synthetics outperform minerals. I know some people here are mineral oil advocates. So here are some articles for u guys to read http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/m...nthetic_faq.htm http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/m...oil_article.htm Hint: To reset the "Oil Service" light on the dash, simply connect pin 7 to 19 with a jump lead (20 Pin Socket on 1987 onwards BMWs) and turn the ignition ON, for about 3 or 4 seconds till the lights turn green. OR pin 7 to 1 (Pre 1987 15 pin socket) and turn the ignition ON till lights go green on the dash. The pin socket is located in the engine compartment, usually on the left side of the engine. Black, cylindrical shape with a cap that unscrews.

My car burned a bit of oil about 200ml or so in about 3000km. The engine has about 131,000 on the clock. I am wondering would this slight consumtion be possibly due to me switching to fully synthetic oil or more likely from harder driving ie: more frequent red lining of the engine once warmed up of course. The oil I am currently using is the Castrol Formula R 0W40. Thanks for all your help/suggestions guys
