  1. Hi, Link to my trade me classified below if anyone is looking for a tidy original E30 coupe in manual! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-580814963.htm
  2. No its Definitely leaking, very slowly though. I notice a significant drop in level in the res and it normally takes at least half a liter to top back up every 2-3rd day after. I've had a few issues with the cooling system on this car and have so far had to replace the rad and water pump. Would go as far to say that the rest of the system needs something similar haha.
  3. I've had a good look and I think you're right. The small breather pipe coming out of the top of the radiator is really old and there is a bit of coolant sitting about on the top of the radiator, plan is to replace that and see how it goes. I hope there isn't a split in the top of the rad...
  4. It could possibly be leaking all the time, however each time I run the heater the coolant warning light comes on, I think maybe it's leaking from the heater return or something like that? That would be the heater pushing it out I guess...
  5. Hi, my E30 is leaking coolant whenever I turn the heater fan on, has anyone else experienced this before? I replaced the water pump in Dec 2012. The leak appears to be in the engine bay drivers side and not in the cabin so I don't think the heater core is leaking but maybe the pressure change when the fan is switched on is causing the leak. Be great if anyone has any helpful ideas for me. I plan to fill the coolant back up and turn the heater on full blast to see if I can spot the leak but if any of you know anything that's likely I'd appreciate the help. Cheers Nick.
  6. Thanks for the advice. I have a pump coming from aucks and have removed the old one now. I prob won't bother with the tensioner and timing belt etc as I managed to remove the pump without touching that. It would be great to do that work but funds and time are not with me at the moment. I have flushed the system and will replace the pump tomorrow so will let ya know how I get on. Thanks again. Nick
  7. Hi, I would appreciate some advice. I have an 87 320i and believe the water pump has died. The fan is wobbling all over the show and hitting the back of the radiator, and is leaking large amounts of water. I would like any advice on this possible and if anyone knows what a new pump would cost, and their availability? Is it a involved job? I have removed the radiator and now need a 32mm wrench or a fan clutch tool to remove the fan. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Nick.
  8. I purchased my 320i at the start of this year for $2400. Its a p/f, factory manual and completely stock. It's pretty tidy other than what you would expect from a 25 year old car. I think if I were to try sell tomorrow I would aim for 3k, but it really seems that people are starting to ask ridiculous money for old cars in general. At the end of the day even if it is immaculate it's still just a 320, maybe if it was a 325, like someone already mentioned It comes down to what one person will pay. I still find it stupid that people think old RX mazdas are worth 25k plus only my opinion though
  9. Photos with the new rims on the car yet????
  10. Hey don't know if this has been posted but damn what an amazing project!!! Hope you can understand German! http://www.build-threads.com/build-threads/bmw-m1/
  11. Cheers! Hopefully I might have the loan of a buddy's 15inch baskets sometime soon, but would be cool to find a set of my own...and yes I agree it's pretty high but I am currently having cert issues with the escort so afraid any money spent on the E30 will have to wait... I think I've found the culprit of the leak in my interior. There's a 20c sized rust spot at the bottom of the A Pillar, is this a common rust area? and would anyone know of other common rust spots on these cars? I know the sunroofs aren't great... Cheers
  12. Hi, Thanks for the advice, feel like I'm always buying something for one of them nearly all of the time. The escort Is a great wee car to have lying about and yes very fun to drive considering how little power it has. Future plans will be front coilovers, I'd like to add upright strut turrets in the rear, and just a basic tidy up of the exterior paint and interior eventually. No major plans for the E30 at this stage, it has some rust which will require repair soon, and maybe some basket weaves in the future. I noticed this morning in the rain a water leak coming out on my bonnet release latch, any Ideas?
  13. A quick pic of the escort as well... It's a 1300XL but basically Mexio spec. !600 overbore, side draught webbers, cam, bottom end etc... and a 5 speed toyota T50. This is my 1st car...so rather attched now... haha. This is what I drive the E30 instead of.
  14. Hi everyone, As the title would suggest I have been a member since 2007 however have never actively posted as I've never owned a BMW. I brought my first BMW 6 months ago as I have always been a fan of E30s. I beleive the car is NZ new, and it is in reasonably good condition considering it's 25 years. It's a 320i and in manual. There is a rip in the drive's seat, common I beleive, the dash is cracked and the paint is rough otherwise I'm happy with it. Plans are to keep it original and running. Maybe one day I will bother with mods but it's such a good car as it is. Let me know what you guys think. I'd be interested in getting involved in some local action around the canterbury area too. Cheers Nick
