  2. heck, thats quik...!!!! well, i luv it. my girl luv it.... its small compact and so easy to work on. lol. most of the times i do my own service... keeping my balance in the bank healthy. lol. but yea, if things are doing okay, i might replace it with something decent with 4door.... or coupe if i really cant pass the deal... lol. yeah, i lov e30's since ages ago. cant really thing any beemer is better than that one. i think its bcos i like boxy shape and im a conservative person. how easy to find them in good nick? and what's the realistic price for them? i luv the 325 msport... but yeah, only available in coupe style. how is their condition? bm's got lots of electronics..... r they troublesome? i've heard some bad stuff in the past. but never actually experience one.
  3. hi all. just wanna say hi from me. just joined in. a little about me. live & work in akl. currently drive a 91 civic hatch. sort of my daily and my project in a way. did a little bit and pieces on her, replace stuff and fix things. reason to join is to learn more about beemers. =P dad used to own 97 523i (overseas)... i luv it. and i always have heart for older beemer for some reason. anyway, happy to kno u all...
  4. but hang on a minute, dont forget, the dealer will buy the car for much less money and sell them with margin on top of the cost..... so, that $30k depreciation per year was only the best .... it's actually worse than that. don't know how much margin dealer take for selling a car... for jap imports, its ranged between 4-7k? depending on cars.
  5. im driving a jap. totally agree if what's involved to be fixed. and agree that the sevice cost will depend on how bad the broken thing is. if you keep ur maintenance up to date, then u will see the car can serve u with not much trouble... except if u got a troubled one already. anyway, this is my personal view. a beemer will be more expensive marginally. why? because japanese spareparts are widely available and they are cheap (especially 2nd hand). services are relatively cheap due to not much electronic involved. but newer generation japanese cars are so sophisticated, in the end of the day they will be the same. but if u choose older cars, like mid 90s model. but yea, if you wanna buy a car, just pick one that rock ur boat.
