  1. Yes I know the system well, I have done many early systems, But this did take me years to work out, the hardware alone to buy new is over $4000, I do Navigation & radio tuner conversion for $2000
  2. This can all be done, The only people in New Zealand doing this on 7 series is BM Workshop in Botany, speak to Joe he has successfully converted all TV, Navigation & Radio to ECE specification for NZ market
  3. BM Workshop in Botany can do all retrofits for these cars, Navigation and radio, can remove seatbelt gongs and alter almost anything you want, give Joe a call regarding this
  4. Just note that warranty companies will not covere items failled whilst doing software updates, they do not pay for coding or programming, and this will be in your policy book, if they are told how it crashed you could end up paying the whole bill
  5. one of two things, either an air leak from possible PCV valve or hoses, or a coil is breaking down, needs diagnosis, the fact its worse hot suggests a coil, need a tester with cylinder comparision live status when fault is doing it and you will see one cylinder worse than others
  6. Did you not say they where BMW dealers, ive never seens a bmw dealer work on mitsi, I have had issues where the map cooling thermostat has caused stalling at idle due to shorting on the heating element, if the fault comes back with the new DME then i would get this replaced, the engine has map cooling to run hotter under lean cruise, if map cooling is not working then it will always run hotter than recommended for particular driving, or the fault could be logged because car is running too cold and cannot regulate temp correctly. This will pay for itself based on the fuel consumption will be gained, as for the surging, i would be very surprised if there was not faults relating to mixtures or throttle problems. If it is not a BMW specialist it is possible there test equipment is not picking up the correct fault memory
  7. Look at the website for Autosure, they are the best, not the cheapest, but the best to deal with, no trouble with claims compared to others, im not sure if you can get them direct, but AA used to sell Autosure/vero policies
