  1. it takes 4-5 secs to change from neutral to first gear...if i shift gearstick to "D" and throttle up, it virbrates hard out before changing to 1st gear, then drives as smooth as normal... Any more ideas please? would very much appreciate.. thanks
  2. I love the look of it, love the feeling it gives, the wows of people admiring it, any time i drive it feels like the first time.. Thanks to it, I am always a virgin.. That is IT..
  3. thanks guys you are absolutely correct.. problems already started appearing.. stupid me..please read my new topic and if possible HELP..
  4. E46 transmission problem... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- it happened all the sudden. the car jerked a bit and shifted down to 4th and the warning light beside gear position (exclamation mark '!', inside a gear ring)appeared. referred to the manual and it said that there's a transmission problem and only certain gear can be selected. the warning went off a while when i switched off the engine. but the problem appeared again after a while. the gearchange will go back to normal when ignition is switch off and re-start. I also notice if i start the engine, shift gearstick to "D", paddle the throttle suddenly or reverse, there'll be noticeable jerks (car vibrates hard out then goes normal). Does anyone know what goes wrong there and is it easy to fix? is it because of transmission oil, or torque converter or what? Who can fix it? Normal workshop or some transmission specialist? Please help.. This really frustrates me as I am not mechanical minded at all..
  5. Accident sucks... looking on the bright side you have some honest neighbor..tell me where u live..i may consider moving there lol as i woke up couple of times and found out a few major dents on my car without knowing who was responsible
  6. Thanks for your thoughts. I would definitely ask for the paperwork. I reckon price is quite reasonable compared to other similiar ones on the market. Seller asked for 8.5 grand cash for it. I also thought about possible hassle in reselling, but just so tempted to try the BMW. This is my 1st BMW ever...
  7. Thanks heaps for the advice. Compared to other ones on the market, I reckon its price is low enough for me to take on the risk. I just cant wait trying the BMW. Have owned many Jap cars and kind of sick of them. Would like to try something with character and BMW is a perfect example. Thanks Ryan
  8. I am very keen on buying a BMW 99' 318i E46 ( I think) on Trade Me. I had a look at carjam and found that the car's odometer decreased by 16k from 59k at 1st WOF inspection to 43k at 2nd WOF inspection. Seller said something like "the gauge meter has been changed due to fuel gauge not working properly and all records are with LTSA. The meter reads 64k and the gauge is working fine now". This is the first time I've heard something like that and I am not mechanically minded at all. So have no idea if this is true or not and if this is a big deal. I am still very keen on the car and intend to travel to Auckland from Palmy to buy it tomorrow. I am a bit reluctant now as paying heaps of monie for it. Please help!!! Thanks Ryan
