  1. Thanks to this thread just priced up an order from Pelican. Made a 'project list' as can't quite afford to buy yet, but to give others an example, a water pump + belt, Fan Clutch, expansion tank + clip came to $67USD shipping.
  2. OK thanks will give it a go on the weekend. I think I didn't give it enough time from when I reconnected the battery.
  3. Hmm it was unplugged for over an hour - do you mean the little nav box under the middle part of the boot as well or just the DVD ROM bit?
  4. Nope that kills the TV. Must need it for pass thru. Can anyone tell me if there is an adaptor to get round this problem, or does it require a bit of home electronics?
  5. Just wondering - have just replaced the CD Changer for a DICE box, and decided to take out the Jap DVD nav unit that sits above it as its useless (E39 Touring) is this ok to do or will the car throw up a bunch of errors about it? (Currently has battery disconnected)
  6. No but thanks for those links. There are no visible screws under the plate, but there is a kind of plastic clip that holds it on the outside then pokes through a hole in the holder and then through the boot lid to the inside of the bootlid (under the trim) where there are what appear to be little knobbly heads that hold it all together on the inside. What I want to find out is wether there is a graceful way of removing these (in case say you had to re attach cause you got into trouble with PC Plod for not having legal plates)or you just have to rip the thing off.
  7. Hiya Hey how did you remove the insert for the rear plate holder to fit the Europlate (or was it already gone) - brute force or is there an easier way? Nice car btw, would have liked a 530 but couldn't find one that ticked the boxes when we were shopping. Cheers Wolfman (Attached photo to show you what I mean.)
  8. Thats really cool! Part 28 is what I am talking about - see the 2 largish holes in the middle of the cover, they have these black clips that have a hole in the middle that exposes a screw thread, but I think the clips have a tube that goes thru to the other side of the bootlid and are held on by a plastic cap like a screw head, but i dont know if you have to cut that off, or if they should just pull out (I have put a bit of elbow grease into it to no avail other than managing to spin the clip round) was wondering if any other jap import touring owners have encountered this when putting on their Euro plates.
  9. No its definately a plastic insert, I took some of the rear boot trim off and can see sort of studs that hold the clips in on the underneath, but dont want to take all the trim off, and other wise hard to get at.
  10. Does anyone know how to remove the rear plate insert for a E39 Touring. There are 2 black solid D shaped clips that seem to hold it on (under the plate), is there any easy way of removing them or do you have to rip them off (preferably not)
  11. This sounds a lot like a noise I have noticed from my 525 (which has not had its cooling system overhauled yet) did you find out the cause in the end? I was wondering about either the VANOS rattle or the water pump, but I am no mechanic.
  12. Yep had them look at a 530 a while back - told me not to touch it with a 10 foot pole, vehicle was not even as advertised (false mileage), they were pretty straight up to deal with.
  13. Dash car stereo replacement Just saw this on Kickstarter. Pretty cool idea, no idea on quality of the amps etc tho. Good to see innovation like this in any case. Still would prefer a Dynavin (if only it was cheaper!)
  14. Thanks to jochen for his other thread (linked earlier in this one) about re-programming a post 2001 radio to the Oceania zone - I can't believe I hadn't picked up on it tlil now - I can now listen to the Rock in my jap import Bimmer!
