  1. Yeah the extra cost of the tires is definitely something to factor in.
  2. Yeah it would appear so, there are plenty on Ebay in the US but I'm hoping I can avoid the drama (and cost) of international shipping. People do replace/upgrade their wheels so maybe I'll get lucky... Looks like you'll now have a competitor bidding on TM, ha ha! :-)
  3. Hi guys, I'm after a set of BMW type 313 wheels in 19x8 and 19x9 et37 front, et39 rear. Anyone out there know of a set?
  4. I have spoken again to the guys at Robinsons and they said they tested the tacho with a 12v square wave pulse and it worked fine. I have checked the manual for the Toyota and it says the computer puts out a 12v signal so we are now playing around with which pin to use (apparently it's the blue plug pin no.8) I'll keep you posted so that if I solve it and anyone else is looking to re-power a bmw with a Toyota motor they'll learn from my expensive exploration.
  5. Hi guys, I have a E28 with a 1JZGTE in it and I want to wire up the factory BMW Tacho to the Toyota computer. I have had the cluster at Robinson Instruments and it's all good. I have located the pulse output pin on the Toyota computer however when connected the Tacho pops up for about 2sec then dies. The Toyota outputs a 12v signal and I was wondering if the BMW used something different? Any advice on what the voltage, impedance etc of the tacho is would be great so I can try to solve the Japanese - German no speaky problems. Thanks!! PS the reason it is urgent is because the dash is in pieces and I have to move it by the weekend so I'd love to solve this ASAP ;-)
  6. You are right. That is probably the option I will have to go for: retrofiting e39 leather interior into my e28 or having what I have re-clad. I just thought I'd give it a shot first incase someone was sitting on a set of seats (I've seen a few 535i race cars so was hoping someone kept the interior if it was leather). If anyone comes across some please PM me ;-) Thanks!
  7. Because my car has a 1jzgte in it plus all suspension, bushes, brakes etc done and I'd either be faced with transferring everything over and getting it all cert'ed again or robbing the interior out of the 535 and flicking it with my blue cloth interior. Neither is ideal.
  8. I saw that. Looks too nice to rob parts from plus I don't want to have to buy it, swap interiors and then on-sell it. I'm hoping someone has a good interior from a wreck or a donor car.
  9. Hi guys, as the title says I am after some genuine E28 M leather interior. I want the whole lot, front and back seats, door cards, sill covers etc. I'm almost at the point where I was going to buy a M535 or similar and swap parts over but I'd rather avoid butchering a car and dealing with the hassle. Anyone out there got something? PM me Thanks!

    E28 offset

Yes it's lowered, not sure how much but I think about 40-50mm from memory. I think the squareness of the tire you choose will play a role in whether or not it rubs. I'm running Dunlop SP Sport Maxx's and as I said on my 8in wheels they rub when I have people in the back and the suspension compresses. I'm hoping by fitting them to 9in wheels it will curve the sidewall slightly and actually help with clearance. Let me know how you go and I'll keep you posted when I get the car back and fit the wheels. What style wheels did you get?

    E28 offset

Hi Guys, sorry for jumping on this thread but I have a question. I have bought a set of BBS RS 740/741s in staggered fitment - 17x8 et20 and 17x9 et26. I know the fronts are going to be fine as I already have these on the car but my rear tires which are also 17x8 et20 rub a little under suspension compression. Before I fit new tires (245 40s) on the wheels I thought I'd quickly ask if any of you have tried this size on an E28 before? If so did you have to roll the rear guard/how much? I've heard of guys running up to 10inch on the rear of their E28s but I can't see how they would without serious "massaging" of the rear arches. Thanks!
  12. I also have a MTec kit (genuine) but I want to hack up a kit and build a M5 e28/e34 hybrid. Also I'd imagine the fiberglass kit would be substantially lighter than the original ABS kit. I'll chat with Marty and see what he can do. Thanks Brent! Quinn PS anyone happen to have an e34 M5 kit or fiberglass replica of one?...
  13. Hi guys, anyone know where I can get good quality fiberglass panels and M5 kit parts from for an E28? Cheers Quinn

    1JZGTE Powered E28

No Sorry, Also I have sorted storage so there is no longer a hurry to sell. If anyone is interested PM me and I can send you pics and answer questions etc. Quinn
  15. I'm putting up the E28 for sale again and thought I'd give you guys the heads up before it goes on Trademe. $6500 or more gets you all of the specs listed below. Otherwise I'll be pulling out the suspension and keeping the wheels, brakes, suspension, M5 kit and starting a $1000 reserve auction for the rest. This car is Certified for all the mods, it is quick, reliable and looks great. Reg is on hold and warrent can be gotten prior to sale if required. It needs a few things done to completely finish (fit the M5 kit, LSD Diff and an intercooler) but all the hard work and big $$ have been spent. To build another car to this spec would cost well over $10k (estimated $12-13k spent already) so save your self time and $$ and take it off my hands! Body: 1984 BMW 525i, electric sunroof, windows. Body is RUST FREE!! paint is a bit tired and the bonnet is sunburnt and stone chipped but I have a replacement bonnet which comes with the car. I have a full M5 body kit which will come with the car (unfitted) if buyer wants it. Fitted with a Mongoose M60 4star alarm with twin immobilizers and central keyless entry. Engine/drive train: Toyota 1JZGTE out of a Soarer. This came as a front cut from Dodsons with full wiring loom and auto box. It is the earlier twin turbo engine. Everything (computer etc) is standard except a pod filter and modified 2.5" exhaust to fit. Diff is standard BMW open diff. Suspension: Bilstein shocks and Vogtland springs all round (65mm lower). Professionally built and fitted by Suspentiontech. Nolathane bushes throughout with adjustable eccentric bushes for toe/camber adjustment in the rear. Late model rear subframe with dog-bone links for improved traction. M5 alloy front arms. Whiteline heavy duty front swaybar (not fitted). Brakes: Later model (e34/32) disks and calipers front and rear (much bigger than standard E28's). I have an e32 brake booster if wanted but I found I didn't need it. Wheels: 17x8 BMW Type 42 with near new Dunlop Sportmaxx 225s (front) and 235s (rear). I also have a W55 manual box which I could sell to the buyer if wanted. Any questions feel free to text or call me on 022 108 3246 PS pics will be posted soon!
