hey, I'm after good 731 head, not cracked or warped to go straight on motor, manifolds not essential
-
............. was looking in haynes manual for gearbox sensors info instead of looking under engine management!"Early Motronic systems have the reference sensor and the speed sensor mounted on the bellhousing over the flywheel. Later Motronic systems have a single sensor (pulse sensor) mounted over the crankshaft pulley. This sensor functions as a speed sensor as well as a position sensor"

hey thanks

hey, I'm putting a 1987 525e motor and gearbox into a 1988 320i auto using the head, toothed crank sensor and wiring from the 2L auto etc so was wondering about the A/B sensors in the bell-housing (getrag 260) ie what the hell do they do & do they become obsolete when using a toothed crank sensor? also.... from what I understand the flywheel on the m20b27 has 2 parts to it... are all m20's like this or do different models have single flywheels? (was thinking about using a lighter fly wheel) also..... also..... there is a two wire sender near the top of the gear box is this a neutral saftey switch like the automatics have? have in the past swapped earlier e30 m20b25 & gearbox with out toothed crank sensor into a 88 318i auto but that was prefacelift motor and box into a later car!!!!!

hey was wondering can a if m40 will bolt up to m20b20's auto-transmission. .... few questions...... if so... - can the auto flywheel & torque converter from the m20 be used on the m40? - m20's (auto) starter motor? -does m20 exhaust bolt to the m40 manifold? -will trans still mount in the same position bolted to the m40? - are the afm's the same? -......... anything else I should be asking!!!!!! this would be using the m40's 1.3 ecu & m40 radiator.... will try find out what year 320 is! cheers paul d 320 is a 91 model, cheers

hey cheers brent, good site.... still not sure about the weather I can use the front part. I compared it to the e30 auto drive shaft & the final part is a different length than the 525 (for the wheel base I guess) so hope fully the difference is in the final part of the shaft not the front. cant remember weather its the auto or manual front shaft, that is longer one on the e30's
