  1. Funnily the error light is gone now. I haven't done anything, neither change the pads, nor change the sensor, nor reset the computer.
  2. So the sensor needs replacing each time the warning light goes on then?
  3. Hi. The brake-pad warning lights up on my dashboard (1996 E39 520i). After replacing the pads, do I need to reset the warning lights, or would it automatically detect that the pads are new and stop lighting up on the dashboard?
  4. Asking price lowered to $4500. Still negotiable though.
  5. It was there when I bought it. Just couldn't be bothered taking it off.
  6. After having the pleasure to own the BMW for 2 years, I need to let this car go. I am going back to Malaysia for good at the end of April, and the Malaysian government only permits me to bring back one car (as a student). As a full-time house wife, the government doesn't permit my wife to bring back any car. Since I have 6 children, I have to use this one-car-only permission for my Previa. And hence no BMW for me for awhile. In Malaysia, a similar Previa would cost about NZD35000 and a similar BMW NZD23000! Anyway back to the car. Its WOF and licence run until end of August 2011 and June respectively. More detail information and picture can be found in my Trademe listing, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=366233418. The asking price there is $4500. But I'm willing to lower my expectations quite a bit. My contact details if you're interested: Email: [email protected] Home phone: 034712248 Mobile: 0212361120 Or you can send a PM on bimmersport.
  7. I need a rear right ball joint for a 1996 E39 520i. What is your price plus shipping to Dunedin. Or is this one ok? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-356401453.htm Khairul
  8. I'm in Pinehill too! Like me, you'll probably feel the effect of small engine in climbing our hills. I don't know how often you go down and come up Pinehill, but I do this at least 3 trips a day, and hence wish to have a bigger engine. Anyway welcome. Probably will bump into each other (not literally though!).
  9. Oh I read your message too late. I had instructed the place where I sent my car to to repair the existing wiper motor (he was quoted $300 over for a replacement wiper motor), and the labour time he took to repair it was more than your quote. Well, that's life I guess. Lesson learned.
  10. Windscreen wiper motor for a E39 1996 520i. Want quotes for the cheapest good condition one, plus shippping to Dunedin. Thanks.
  11. Hi guys. Anyone knows a good auto sparky in Dunedin? Has anyone been to the one on the corner of Anzac Ave and Saint Andrew St? Are they good? My wiper is not working, and a mechanic found that no power is going into the wiper motor although the fuses and power to the fuse box are good. Regards. Khairul
  12. And don't forget to put in the "after" pictures, both with the lights on and off in the daytime, as well as night time.
  13. Hi Glenn My wiper problem came back, awhile after fixing it by tightening some bolts as you had suggested. Now both sides would be stuck at the same time randomly anywhere in the middle of the windscreen. Sometimes when they got stuck at intermittent or low speed, pushing the stalk to high speed would move the wiper again, but sometimes not. And the washer is not squirting the cleaner as strong as it should. The left nozzle very weakly, and right nozzle does not squirt at all. I tried filling up the reservoir with more cleaner, but no change. I read some blogs (http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=30428&start=0), and then took out two relays and one of them is a bit damaged at the contacts. Could that be the reason? If the relay is not expensive I could buy one and try it out. Any advice?
  14. PM Brent (username Brent HARTGE535i). I remember him mentioning to me he has some, angel eyes and non-angel eyes.
  15. Proton is rebadging Mitsi Lancer again for it's second generation Proton Waja. http://paultan.org/topics/cars/proton-waja-lancer-cars/ It has however came up with it's own (not rebadge from other makes) cars, 5 models actually. 1. Waja 1st generation, the very first own model. 2. Satria Neo, popular in rallies. 3. Persona, also comes with an earlier shorter version called Gen2. 4. Saga latest generation, the smallest model in the range. 5. Exora, their first people-mover. p.s. all pictures taken off wikipedia
  16. In Malaysia, the wearing of seatbelts among rear passengers was just only recently made compulsory. Here's a funny advert for it from Malaysia's carmaker, Proton. The car featured in the ad is a Proton Waja.

  19. A mechanic says something like this with regards to suspension: "rear-left-upper arm needs repaired or replaced because the ball-joint is damaged" Is it part 18 on this page? http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=DD11&mospi d=47537&btnr=33_0519&hg=33&fg=30 If that's the one, does anyone have one? Oh and it's for my 1996 E39 520i.
  20. Bought a 520i with a 540i badge! Anyone has a 520i badge and wants to swap with a 540i?
  21. You are spot on Glenn! And I also found 2 small hoses protected together in a plastic tube jutting out underneath the bonnet hood, that blocked the right-side wiper on the end tip. That probably contributed to the problem.
  22. I'll try it out after I get home. Thanks Glenn.
  23. Hi guys. The driver-side wiper on my E39 520i stopped working. Few days before this happened, whenever I switched on the wiper, there was some screeching noise coming from the wiper motor area. I sprayed some WD40 on it, and the noise reduced by half. But later the right side stopped moving altogether. There is still some noise while the left side moves. The noise only happens when wiper moves, and not while the wiper is static, for example when the switch is on intermittent. Is there any DIY I can do to check what might be the problem. Or is it definitely the motor? Thanks
