  1. Michael - will probably straight pipe it for now and see how I like it. Would rather put the funds into other area's at the moment.

If it irritates me too much, I'll change it.

Beemn - I've had a few reads through other forums to do with the blind and it always seems to be the same problem.

It'll probably be one of the last things I look at. Think I'll have a look when I have the back seat out to do the suspension.

  2. Cheers for that Kulgan. It's definitely coming from the water pump. Can see it dripping out and around the passenger side.

Just added a housing to my order from pelican parts though. another $10 or so is worth the peace of mind.

Thanks for pointing that out Mark. Hadn't picked up on that. Pretty sure it has had some impact damage at some stage

but the repair work seems pretty high standard. I picked up on it as both bumpers are immaculate and free from stone chips.

Also the drivers rear quarter has perfect paint and the pin striping (which i removed) was near new. In fact the roll was in the glove box.

The passenger rear tail light looks newer then the drivers as well.

  3. Not looking to do too much to this other than the usual and bring it up to standard.

    1. Fix the leaking water pump

    2. New rocker cover gaskets

    3. New struts in the boot

    3. Alignment

    4. Fix the rear high stop light

    5. Fix the rear blind motor

    6. Fix the air con

    7. Fix intermittent locking issue

    8. Muffler delete and install tips

    9. Remove the tow bar

    10. Lower it

    11. Wheels

Currently have the gaskets, water pump, struts and a new key fob coming.

  4. Thought I'd start a thread for my 740.

Bought her a few weeks ago now and haven't really had time to do much due to work and what not.

Gave her a quick wash today and snapped a couple of photo's in my driveway.

Came with the plates. Body work and interior are pretty damn good for a 20 year old car.

Just a few clips missing here and there. Have already fixed an oil leak (loose hose clamp) and

squeaking brakes (brand new pads). Given her a good service and installed a new head unit.

Previous owner had made quite a mess of the wiring. Still in the process of sorting out whats what.

  5. Just a few questions about about some things I want to fix on my 7 series.

    1. The water pump is leaking around the seal. I've read that this can be the sign of it being on the way out.

Its not loosing a huge amount of water but I'm going to order the pump now. I was going to do the gasket and the water pump o rings

while I was at it. Is there anything else that would be good to do at the same time? I've had a good look round the back of the valley pan and that looks to be sweet. Will be painting the rocker covers and throwing on new seals while I'm in there also.

2, When I get out and lock the car, the light on the transmission (P) stays on. It doesnt turn off at all. Ever.

Is this normal? I swear to god I can hear a bit of a hum when I put my ear near to the tunnel.

    3. The blower doesnt want to work on the drivers side or up the front on the demisters. I've seen that they are a dual blade design.

Would I assume right that one side is busted?

  6. I think you may be mistaken.

When I told the service guy I needed one I only said it was a 7 series.

He bought out a tray with maybe 30 keys. Pulled out the one labeled E38 and it fitted perfectly.

He double checked it wasn't one that looked similar but that was too loose.

  7. Just a quick thread hijack. I have a similar problem.

I bought a 7 series on the weekend and have gone to take a wheel off to sort a squeeky brake to find that it has lock nuts but I have no key.

I dont really want to brake my socket set or make the nut harder to remove.

Is doing that way the best/easiest method?

  8. Hi all. Just joined up a few days ago.

First time owner, long time BMW fan.

Finally got around to purchasing a 740I in Mojave Braun with shadowline trim.

If you're from Hamilton, you'll probably see me around as the colour sticks out like dogs balls.

Picked her up for a good price, Fairly straight just in need of some well deserved TLC.

Will throw up some pic's when I've given her a good clean.
