It's a manual, but apparently drives fine and "only really slips in 3rd". Does that make sense? How would they pick it up in a Wof, surely they wouldn't reach 3rd gear going into the shed with it? And engine was replaced due to a snapped crank shaft. Any thoughts, as always, would be appreciated

Not even 100 000km and in need of a clutch, DCTs don't wear anywhere near that fast! Even a manual shouldn't, someone's been doing lots of burnouts or can't work a clutch properly.
He's also put wrong mileage in the ad. Ad says 90k but in description he says 103k.
Completely agree with you. But it's done on every listing, so who knows what manual means. I think I'll drop looking at this. $30,000 would be worth a look, but not what he's looking at.

If it is DCT then the price of the new clutch is up there, and would explain why it's needed for WoF as it won't drive properly...
Yep was thinking that - I'm assuming you would put manual for the description for either box, so who knows what manual means

Cheers guys
Didn't know what to think of the clutch price, whether cheap or expensive.
I've just sold my E46 M3 couple of months ago to be sensible, realised I don't do sensible, so on the hunt it is. I'm just looking at this, and with a few k thrown at it, it comes up to the same price as those with less miles and don't need to do any work.

Just wondering if there's any opinions on this M3
The fact that it's had an engine rebuild/swap at 90kms + needing a new clutch now leads me to think that it's been thrashed.
And is $5,000 accurate for a new clutch done at BMW?

I'm guessing stay away from this one, but would be interested if anyone knows anything

I've found a 335i that I could be keen to buy, so if anyone is looking at buying this, $27,000 and she's yours.

Mate - I don't doubt you at all. I had an E90 before this M3 (and two E46's before that). Dad has a 545, partner drives an 120i, Mum drives an E46. All in all, we love our bimmers, and I know how much of a step up this car is, compared to the non M's.
I absolutely love my car, and if possible, I would never sell it - It's been a dream of mine to have since I was a teenager. Owning it has been a pleasure. Unfortunately life gets in the way
As mentioned, there is a genuine reason for the trade, I just don't want to make it too public.
With the inevitable happening, I may as well enjoy some power that the 335 has to offer!
Thanks for the input, but preaching to the choir haha

Looking at trading my E46 M3 for 335i Wagon
M3 is NZ New
Manual 157xxx kms
Alpine White on Black Leather
Koni Yellow All Round
Can Come on original springs or H & R's
New Rear rotors and Pads (yet to be fitted)
19" M3 wheels or Apex Arc 8
Alcantra knob, boot, and hand brake + boot
Have more pics, interior was just taken when cleaning, only pic of interior I have on me right now
Really not looking for anything else other than 335i LCI, so please don't ask for trades for anything else. Only possibility would be a diesel variant.
Very sad to be writing this, but genuine reason behind it. I will discuss on proper inquiry.
Feel free to PM for any questions
Cheers,
Josh

Thanks very much team, hugely appreciated! have decided against it, just think a bit too much work to get it up to scratch with some others that have been about for same $$$ even with the M3 drought in Trademe right now =(
-
i saw this car on Tuesday, its got quite a few scratches on the sides and around the place. So not mint by any means. inside looked ok.
Thanks for that - I live in Tauranga, so going up to Auckland is not always so easy. Did you take a drive by chance? I found out it's NZ new, which is a huge bonus
-
I saw it in Mt wellington lot a few months back, its come down in price it was $29??
Looked ok. SMG tho if your ok with that. (<just sayin, dont no one get started on that topic)
Yeah it was $29K coming into xmas I think. I did email them and put an offer with trade in on the table, didn't hear anything back, so never bothered

Looking at the amount of M3's for sale now in comparison to two months ago is unbelievable. I think there's 4 on TradeMe right now (not including verts), 2 SMG and two (from what I can see) overpriced manuals. Maybe it's in relation to the lack of them for sale 'warrants' a higher price?? This car does seem well priced for what it is though... I am finally in the position after dreaming for a few years, but I don't know if I could bring myself to SMG. I feel like I would still be left wanting.
-
Has anyone had a proper look at this car?
It's been on and off TradeMe for a while now, and seeing the interest the 160xxx M3 is getting, I'm assuming that there is a reason that this hasn't sold?

The JIL is actually a safety certification, and is JWL, it just looks like JIL. It stands for Japan Light Alloy Wheel
