Here is my first love. #774 of the 797 built HE51 540i/6 Limousine LHD European-version. Of them 74 has 337 M Sport Package. Mine is the only Cosmosschwarz with 3:rd brake light, just two more with M Sport Package has that feature I have owned one of them:). But the most lovely is the Light Silvergrey leather interior. I just loves the leather, the dark wood, 3 spoke steering wheel, black headliner, the high equipment level and my add ons - metal inner door opeaners and M-door sills. It's a late 540i/6, model year 1996. I bought #774 in March 2002 from a BMW dealer in Bavaria, I send down €1000 without even seen any pictures and toke a plane and drove the car home a couple of days later, the price was €8993 with 153100km and 1 year Warranty, the first seven month I drove 21000km, than winter came and I bought an 1983 VW Scirocco GTI 1800 as transportation. Also a lovely car. The equipment lists read; Typ-Code HE51 Typ 540I (ECE) E-Baureihe E34 () Baureihe 5 Bauart LIM Lenkung LL Türen 4 Motor M60/2 Hubraum 4.00 Leistung 210 Antrieb HECK Getriebe MECH Farbe COSMOSSCHWARZ METALLIC (303) Polsterung SILBERGRAU HELL LEDER (L2SH) Built date; 1995-09-21 Sonderausstattung Nr. I will keep it forever:). The 18" M-Parallels are from E34, I bought them from a friend in 2002. Rare wheels, most M-Parallels are from E38 or E39. Regards Stephan

Here are the road test of the South-African 540i/6 E34. They had a problem with the limiter, hence the low top speed.

Good cars, can rust in the doors otherwise good in the rust issue, Japanese automatic more reliable than the manual, can need turbo exchange. My cousin had a 95 2,3 turbo manual, needed turbo change. My BMW mechanic has an 93 2,3 none turbo automatic as an loaner (his father was the first owner). A friends wife had an 97 2,3 LTT with the only issue that a front wing rusted through. This is in Sweden, how the knowledge about SAAB 9K is NZ is another question. Volvo has a much higher reliabilty reputation than SAAB. My first choice would be an 2,3 none turbo automatic as new as possible. Stephan

Here is one of the 20 built HE51 in 305 Petrol-Mica metallic as an standard color (there are one more, but it's an early 1995 and has the color as Individual, a very special car. It has bi-color Nappa leather black/barbadosgreen + wood panels covered in Barbadosgreen leather, sorry no pics). Petrol-Mica was only for V8 and Executive E34:s model year 1995 and 1996. No 540i/6 in that color to North America. Regards Stephan

Thank you all:) Boris; Looking forwards to a meet. Here is my very special 540i/6 with EDCIII/Nürburgring suspension, M5 brakes, 90l fuel tank, 8+9x17" M System II with 235/45 front and 255/40 rear. Ex testcar at M GMBH than with a 4582cm3 350BHP engine, probably that later was the S62B50 in the E39 M5. That engine was taken out and the original M60B40 was put back. And sold to Polizei (police) in Stuttgart Germany. They used as an unmarked policecar to high crime. I bought it from them at a internet policeauction unseen. It's one of seven Euro 540i/6 Limousine with Nürburgring suspension. The police sirens are still on the car, I will reconnect them one day=) http://www.garaget.org/?car=185588 Lowest mileaged 540i/6 in Sweden except the Hellrot one that also is an Alpina B10 4,6 6speed. 141tkm for me and 131tkm for the Alpina. Kind Regards Stephan

HELLBM; Low mileage. Do you got more pics? I would change the bumpers strips to smooth all around. M bumpers always has smooth. Simon*; Thank you, pics of one or both Hellrot with M Sport Package would be very nice:) Kind Regards Stephan

The following cars was exported to New Zealand; 314 Hellrot; 3 cars, 1 MY 1994 and 2 MY 1996 (the later both with M Pack) 276 Avusblau metallic; 3 cars (all with M Pack and all MY 1995) 299 Techno-Violett metallic; 3 cars (MY 1995) 303 Cosmosschwarz metallic; 2 cars (MY 1995) 305 Petrol-Mica metallic; 2 cars (MY 1995) 324 Oxfordgrün metallic; 1 car (MY 1995) 237 Granitsilber metallic; 1 car, MY 1994) 309 Arktissilber metallic; 1 car (MY 1996 with M Pack) This means that all the six RHD M Sport Package went to New Zealand. Every car except the 2 last doesn't have Catalyst converter. I run the VIN:s on http://www.carjam.co.nz/ And found the following cars; BK35011 -940328 (MY 1994) Hellrot/Black leather - 216873km Oct-09 BK35012 -940407 (MY 1994) Granitsilber metallic/Silvergrey leather - 240177km Oct-09 BK35029 -940609 (MY 1995) Oxfordgrün metallic/Silvergrey leather - 257427km Sep-09 BK35033 -940706 (MY 1995) Cosmosschwarz metallic/Black leather - 357174km Nov-09 BK35074 -941031 (MY 1995) Petrol-Mica metallic/Black leather - 160414km + 45746km = 206160km Feb-09 BK35078 -941104 (MY 1995) Petrol-Mica metallic/Parchment leather - 212976km Dec-04. Yes 2004. BK35081 -941108 (MY 1995)Avusblau metallic/ Light Silver grey leather - 133322km Nov-09 (this car has M Sport Package and is the only Avus/Light Silvergrey leather!) BK35082 -941109 (MY 1995) Techno-Violett metallic/Light Silvergrey leather - 405548km Dec-09 BK35095 -941206 (MY 1995) Techno-Violett metallic/Light Silvergrey leather - 147842km + 16328km = 164170km Jan-10 BK35134 -950302 (MY 1995) Techno-Violett metallic/Black leather - 92565km Aug-09 BK35169 -950424 (MY 1995) Cosmosschwarz metallic/Black leather - 189947km Oct-09 BK35181 -950508 (MY 1995) Avusblau metallic/Silvergrey leather - 263733km Jul-09 (with M Sport Package, only 6 RHD 540i/6 was built with 337 M Sport Package, all went to NZ=). BK35184 -950512 (MY 1995) Avusblau metallic/Silvergrey Leather - 193460km Feb-09 with M Sport Package. BK35224 -950706 (MY 1996) Hellrot/Black leather - 129273km Jan-10. With M Sport Package, last car without catalyst converter. BK35250 -950913 (MY 1996) Arktissilber metallic/Black leather - 231070km Sep-09. This is the only RHD Arktissilber with M Sport Package, has catalyst converter. The last car is extrem, I have never seen a lower mileage on a 540i/6=)It also the very last 540i/6 with M Sport Package, beats my sold LHD #788/797 Arktissilber/Black leather with a week. BK35261-951031 (MY 1996) Hellrot/Black leather - 17308km Apr-09. When a car change owners in NZ does it change licence plate? Is that a clue to know how many owners a car has? I found a Japanese RHD 540iA Limo in Arktisgrau that was exported to NZ. And more interesting the VERY first built 540iA Touring RHD is in NZ, never registered anywhere else before. Even that it's a UK-Version. Unique being in 309 Arktissilber metallic but built Dec-1993. GB64000 is the VIN. EDK83 is the licence plate. Picture of that car is very interesting. and of course every 540i/6. Got pics from the owner of BK35081 and he help with the link to check VIN:s. Regards Stephan PS; One more question, was there a catalyst converter law in September of 1995 in New Zealand? The only Calypsorot metallic HE52 540i/6 with Black leather was also registered in NZ, a Australian Limited Edition, but crasched last year (; The total number of Calypsorot HE52 is 16, 8 of them are Limited Edition. The rest sold in UK. Regards Stephan
