Yeh it certainly looks this way, i havnt had a chance to go inspect it, hopefully can check it out before the tender but it looks like too much is damaged to make it worth while. Some of the interior would be cool, not worth enough to offset the price though. Zooming in on the pics the front carrier is toast (can see the mount is snapped off) and looks to be a lot damage to the front under carriage. Not sure you could even swap the motor / gbox even if it is ok, looks like a bunch of wiring harness damage where the front clip was taken out. Also missing keys. Would be good to sell to someone who has blown a motor or box though (doesnt seem common in m3s though). Strut brace looks would be nice but also looks bent up in the 2nd last pic. The cowl cover would be cool (makes working on the 335i easier).

If they are not messed up i would love the below off this Rear Camber Link Left Rear Camber Link Right Front Carrier Left Front Carrier Right Front wheel bearings Sways + rear diff + carrier + control arms would be cool as well! Maybe i should buy it

Yeh the top large o-ring on the filter housing had hardened and stopped sealing, it was serviced ~8 months ago, i am not sure of the brand of filter / o-ring that was used, it may have been aftermarket so if you are service i definitely recommend OEM filters and seals .

Might be worth pulling a computer ram heatsink to try and prevent failure again? something like these: Ah link got removed, search amazon for "Cosmos ® 8 PCS Copper VGA RAM Cooling Heatsinks"

Yep and yep It was interesting looking at the old sensor, cool design, i wonder if they have come up a design that doesn't need replacing yet. I guess if you check the conditions of your pads theres probably no reason to run the sensors.

Damn! Im keen for some M3 suspension gear, mirrors and some interior bits and pieces. Too bad the front and back is toast, mirrors are also gone, wonder what the diff and subframe are like! Hopefully a wrecker buys it and i can hit them up

Got the new rear disks and pads in! The old ones were corroded on but a dead weight hammer and wd40 made quick work of them. The disks on these e90s are huge! The rears are bigger than the "BBK" on my old car!

Also i picked up a oil filter cup kit, lets you torque the housing cap to the right nm, it comes with a cup for every filter size so if anyone needs to borrow one send me a PM

Yikes! Andrew sorry to have offended you. So to update Andrew was correct, there is a o-ring there, it has flattened and turned into basically plastic, i will be honest this is my first euro, in the past i have only worked on Nissans and Toyota with traditional filters. I think calling me mentally challenged is bullshit. I have been a member of a bunch of car clubs and have never had this kind of reaction when trying to put up a notice to help other members avoid similar situations. If you read my other post you will notice that i would not name them until talking to them first. I have met a lot of mechanics through various car scenes and whist you seem to be passionate about what you do i have met a lot who do their fair share of lazy / dodgy work (ie zip ties on drive shaft kind of crap) they give a bad name to the profession that i am sure you know all to well. I was wrong the workshop may have done the job properly, still not sure as there is still no top o-ring. When i took the housing out i did syringe up the oil from the housing and there was no remains of the 2nd o-ring, either it broke apart or was not installed, i cannot say either way. Andrew, have yo ever seen the bottom o-ring disappear? Anyway, dumped the oil last night, replaced the filter and o-rings again, fresh plugs, cleaned off all the oil that was in the belly pan and on the side of the block. Also installed a BMS OCC at the same time, really great piece of kit! New pads and rear disks will go on tonight. Also might try to tackle the new intercooler i have sitting around waiting to go on

It was done ~8 months ago (2 weeks before i bought the car) thats why the oils so black! Servicing it myself this weekend ill post a pic of all the goodies going in It also means it did take awhile to leak, i clean the engine bay every 2 months so it may have been leaking for the last 2 months. I imagine that if the top cap for the filter housing is tight it would not leak even without the o-ring but over time as the metal expands and contracts it must have loosened slightly allowing the plastic to metal seal to break. I have a JB4 in the car but have not seen any codes thrown on it, i'm certain it was a euro specialist, i don't have the receipt but have the service book, i havn't had a chance to call them but will report back when i do. I am sure it was not done on purpose but such a simple oversight can have such a big effect on these motors. I dont want to publicly name them without speaking to the first.

EDIT: I missed the top o-ring! it had become super brittle/hard, basically plastic. Talking with a couple of members it is possible that the bottom o-ring perished / split, in which case it should have been caught by the filter, hopefully this is the case. Also recommended bit of rubber grease when installing will ease them into place and prolong their life expectancy Many apologies for my rant, i was a bit hot headed from getting a oil leak in my new (to me) shiny motor Hey guys, Found quite a big oil leak on my bmw a couple of days ago, i was cleaning the engine bay and saw a small drop of oil next to the oil filter cap, on further inspection i found a heap all down the side of the motor and all over the splash guard. I wiped it all clean around the housing, started the car for ~15 seconds and found oil pouring out of the oil filter cap. Immediately grounded the car until i could get the oil filter cup to open it up, glad i did! The idiots who service it last neglected to put either of the o-ring seals on the housing when they change the filter. As you probably all know these come with every filter you buy for the n54, so pure negligence. The service was done by a Euro specialist before i bought the car, im not sure if you guys support naming and shaming on this forum if you do let me know, im happy to out these guys! They could have cost me turbos, or a motor!! The n54 runs super hot so good oil and oil pressure are critical. Tl;dr: car was serviced by a Euro specialist, they didnt use oil filter o-ring, major oil leak! Pics:

Thanks! Yeh the msport seats would have been nice, suspension will change quite a lot probably not for 6 months or so though, i am actually enjoying having a car thats a bit softer for once but we will see once i get into a targa race. I dont actually like the msport rear, just the front. But i figure that having a car that wont draw to much attention is a good thing and the stock front is less racey. I am going to buy a new msport steering wheel though. Your right, fast4s and prestige, the took great care of us and whilst i dont think the have the best reputation due to their hard sales practices i would recommend them based on my experience. I had told them that this would be our first car in NZ and after this we were off to get a hire car to go to Hampton Downs and for my partner to go to work during the week and they offered a loan car at no cost (we had already agreed on a amount for the car + 3yr mech warranty got about $4k off). Saved us another $500! Also filled up the tank when i came to pick it up and were very helpful and friendly. The car had a full service history as well which helped ease my mind (it is a JP import).

Hi guys! Last year i was down in Queenstown for a week on the snow having a blast, sweeping powder, hitting jumps, sliding rails... Awesome! In the midst of this I met the owner of a recruitment company on a chair lift and he told me about the growing software development sector in Auckland. I took his details and said if i ever decided to move to NZ i would look him up! Well, 2 weeks after getting back i had made up my mind, Sydney had done me well but it was time to cross the water and move Auckland! I applied for a interesting job here taking a PHP and Flash development shop into a Microsoft stack shop after a total of 8 interviews the deal was signed and i was moving to Auckland! The next couple of month were frantic! I had two cars and a apartment and garage load of stuff to pack / sell / give away, In the end the 2 cars sold in the last week of being in the country! We moved over on the 15th of January and have been living on queen st since having a awesome time exploring Auckland and have a generally awesome time, next week we will be moving to a great townhouse in Avondale! On to the car! Last weekend i had the realisation that with us moving to Avondale, me working in the city and my partner working near the airport we would need two cars (her car was on its way through compliance, a '12 a3 1.8T) so i decided to spend Saturday trawling K Road dealerships for something to catch my eye. One of my previous cars being a lexus i decided that that would be the first port of call, i laid my eyes on the new RC 350 for the first time.. beautiful car, took it for a drive and it was stunning, BUT the price tag was over $110,000! Way out of my price range. Next up i moved on to VW, to try out a Golf R... $70,000, it was quick, ok inside but ultimately ugly as a toad and not RWD. Meh. Then there was the Porsche dealership, the 03' 911 caught my eye, nice shape, great performance, $99,000 price tag, just not worth it. Audi was next, RS4... amazing, RS6s even more so, but again was not able to justify any of the price tags. I even went to Toyota, $50,000+ORC for a FT86, you have to be kidding me! I had heard there were some dealerships on Great North road, so of we went up the road. The first used car dealership i dropped into finally sparked my interest! They had a E55 and a E46 M3 both for under $30k! Now were talking i spent some time taking to the sales person, mainly about cars in general and not so much the two he had. They were of to Hampton downs the next day to race their Toyota (didnt ask the model). I decided to keep walking along to see what else was around, i found another dealership and started wandering around, i was quickly approached by a salesman who after a couple of questions showed me a '08 E90 335i in Montego blue! Stunning outside, luxurious inside, i was feeling good! Time for a test drive we jumped in and off we went for a spin up the highway, needless to say, i was thinking this is the car for me. The car was very smooth (i had come from a daily car with circuit coilovers) had great acceleration and was very well planted on the road. We pulled back into the dealership and i started looking through the car. everything looked great but then i got to the back seats, uhoh... i cant see a button to fold them down! This was one of my requirements so i could take snowboard in the back and i started feeling quite disappointed. The salesman was telling me its easy to unbolt the seats The price started plummeting as the general manager was trying to buy the car regardless, i looked in the boot and saw the 2/1 split in the seat.. AHAH! I jumped on my phone and went to google, as you all probably know, there is a latch in the boot that releases the back seats! And that was it, i was now 100% sold. I put down a deposit started transferring funds from Aus for the remaining. Whist i was waiting for the deposit to come through i started swooning for hours over the car on e90post, reading about maintenance and modifications. I then thought i would check out trademe and see what parts were up for sale locally. Just my luck! There was a brand new VRSF 7" intercooler for sale! I then read a bit more and it turned out the owner was selling his 335i and had some more kit that he was also selling off. He also had a BMS OCC and DCI! So off i went, 1 day after putting down the deposit on the car to get the first 3 mods . I picked up the car on Wednesday and for the past 3 nights i have just been driving. I am so happy with the car and cannot wait to spend some time working on it. So far i have also ordered: - JB4 G5 ISO + USB + SLD - Bavarian Technic Enthusiast Cable - Thin wall sparkplug socket + 6 new plugs - BMW INPA / Ediabas K+DCAN USB Interface Fun times ahead From what i can tell about the car so far, it seems to have - Comfort access package - Supersprint full exhaust Pics: And my previous cars back in Aus A '03 IS300, heavily modified suspension, 3" full exhaust, quite a few TRD parts, work wheels And a 1994 Nissan Cedric Gran Turismo, way way way to much work to list:
